You are deluded or must have been brainwashed by the government :)

What proportion or kind of cars less than 5 years or even 10years old are defectable? Why would one waste time inspecting these cars? Oh I forgot the majority of cars on the road are in this category......and they have owners with large tax rebates.

Those bombs on the streets are the fault of the police system. The police should be active and take these cars off the road rather than handballing it to some one else.

Who said the new system is a better system. Anyone can bribe their inspectors to give them a paper work. How easy is it for the inspector to say that the car broke down after they did the inspection job?

You should look at thing from all different aspects.

Do you think Regency will be closed after the new scheme?

Do you think you will be able to breath easier?

Do you think transfer of registration between states will be easier

Good luck with your thinking.

What ever it is, I am too busy to take my car to service let alone take my car for inspection. The government is dreaming. Anyhow, I should be able to get a exemption for this because of my job. Hey I don't even have to be a juror let alone take my car for some idiot to inspect.

Deluded? Oh thanks for clearing that up for me. Makes life so much easier when those that dont lend to your negative view on life are delude eh?

And just to make it clearer for you, the govt may be dreaming if they think you are going to taking your car to get it inspected? bwahaha - YOU are dreaming if you think you will still be driving if you dont - FACT

No delusion here buddy.

How do you feel if after a car accident you have to wait for the doctor to come back from "a car inspection" to save your life.

That will be the fact if I have to take my car for inspection.

Good luck if you think I drive an unworthy road car and you don't mind waiting on your death pan for the doctor who should obey the LAW (aka BS).

"When ever I see a old bomb bouncing around", I feel sorry for the public and the owner of that car. Is the car bouncing around because of the shock or is it the condition of the road? Is the owner driving that car because he/she can't afford a better car because of EXCESSIVE CAR TAX

The government need to give some to gain some but they are only interest in their pay rise and luxurious lifestyles from taxpayer money.

Why not impose lower car tax and quarterly ROAD CONDITION inspection? I will pay extra for that!!!

No offense here Steve but I don't see any good in the new law.

It probably go ahead because majority of the population has IQ of less than 100 and don't think too hard about these issues.

What PROVEN EVIDENCE does the government provide that the new scheme will be better?

about the same as I would feel if he was taking a dump at the time - thats why they have more than one doctor working in hospitals at a time. So that they can deal with emergencies - have you ever heard of someone dying in hospital because the doctor was having a crap. How will this be different.

Please, lets get back to reality.

Have you heard of doctor shortage in the public system ?

Have you heard of the waiting time in most public system?

Have you heard of recent pay raise the government offered to the doctor in the public system? 7% over 2 years when indexation is around 4% per year?

Have you heard of the amount of hours most doctors in the public system work?

Good luck if you think doctors have time to do this silly thing. What reality are you talking about? The one the government portrait or the one that they have tried to blanket for many years?

Yes I have, my brother is a GP - I am all to aware of the shortages.

Like I said, lets get back to reality - you are now talking about the negative impact a yearly rego inspection will have on the public health system.

If it makes you feel better, this will be my last post in response to you - so feel free to rant on in peace, I think it is going beyond a joke now.

I must say.

I can't disagree with you. But what can we do?!?! Jack shit.. This is why I tend to push these thoughts towards the back of my mind and concentrate on my car. :P

Yeah bloody skippys hehehe....

Think its quite human to judge groups of people. Most people do it, just wont admit to it because its not politically correct. Even if not by race, you will always feel more comfortable with people that you can relate to or have something in common with.

having said that, its good that you can recognise it as a undesireable trait:) eh skip?

:O Cab drivers with IQ of around 160 :D :D :D

That's a reassuring national standard :)

Joel, you can let a lot of BS politics go to the back of your mind but this law will cause a lot of difficulty for car enthusiasts. It will raise a lot of revenue for the governments. Imagine if you have 2-3 cars in your household. That's would average to 2-3 extra sickies per year per house hold. What would that do to the economy? What would that do to the OZ dollar? What would your Jap/USA mods cost then? Oh I forgot, I might charge a bigger gap for my consult and if you happen to get sick often....then :(

What is the new law for one should ask?

If it's to remove old bombs off the road then, it't the police job. That's what our tax money are used for isn't it?

If this is the only primary goal then it should only be applies to 15 or more years old vehicles.

Syd/Melb have used this "new scheme". Is there any proven beneficial stat? It's damn easy to do the number crunching isn't it? How come NSW and VIC still have the highest incidence and PREVALENCE of car accident mortality/morbidity? Even before our speed reduction. (I wont even touch on the 50kph issue here either)

We have to look at all the issues involve in this case, good or bad, and unite to express our opinions to the governing body. This is a free country with voting rights. The poloticians are elected and paid by us. We do have the power to make them work for us.

:) Just a little short busrt of frustration and my $0.02

I blame it on the fact that my rear tyres are balded.....need to burn more cash and donate more $$$ to the government :)

dude, give it a rest, or you'll be needing those gp's for the high blood pressure.

ps - doesnt nsw & vic have the highest population per state which would explain "highest mortality/morbidity"

sounds like u should run for parliament instead of trying to convince us....or would that make u a $$$ hungry polly as well?

BTW

incidence = number of accident

PREVALENCE = incidence / population

I am a car enthusiast. I hate politics and stupid revenue raising laws that treat the general population like a bunch of brainless ppl.

Yeah I need a new set of tyres for the rear and a round of good golf before my BP boils :D

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
