Hi There,

Ive encounted a problem when using an r32 gts25 loom on my a31 rb20e cefiro. We need to use this loom due to running an rb30det (r32 head) so naturally have used the loom.

The skyline loom however looks to have different plugs to connect the headlights whereas the cefiro has a basic plug.

Ive ditched the cefiro loom a long time ago, and now need to know what others have done in this situation.

In another loom (rb20de) there is only one large plug to connect the headlights and ....

The first 2 pics are the plug which connects on the cefiro, and the others are of the loom we are using. If we manually need to wire from the pins to the headlights, what is the other big plug for? Where will that plug in?

Thanks

ah yes yes yes the good ol wiring game. not 100% sure what you are talking about but i think i know. when i installed a rb26 into my rb20de auto cefiro i kept the head light loom from the cefiro and added the other wires which the 26 needed to it. that big plug on the cefiro carries the the injection and ingnition a aircon signal and a start signal feed if my memory serves me. the other big plug which is on the skyline loom feeds the dropping resister for the injectors, which needs a feed from the fuse box on the way through, and a pcm valve which is positioned by the main fuse box side. i dont know if that has helped, you if you are on the gold coast i can have a look if you like.

Thanks for the reply.

In my pics i has the piece where on the cefiro the headlight stuff plugs into. When the loom is connected to the engine, there is absolutely no way that plug could go anywhere near the fuse box?

How did you wire things, do you have any pics?

Not in QLD so that wont help much

yes that plug goes nowhere near the main fuse box, but when you add the skyline wires to your head light loom, it adds a extra plug which goes from where you have pointed to on your picture, to the other side of the engine bay and connects to the dropping resister for the injectors and the pcm valve that controls boost, which is beside the fuse box. well that is the way i did it. very hard to explain but you will get there. i used the standerd rb26 computer, if you dont use the standard computer you may not have to do this. good luck my friend, good feeling when it finally fires. hate to say it but toyota wiring looms are soo much easier to install.

hey dude, thanks for your reply.

this engine head comes from an rb25de so im not too sure what you need regarding the injector resistor and pcm valve as this loom doesnt have the resistor in it and is NA?

did you get rid of the plug and manually wire things? all of the pcm valve and wiring looms seem to be taken care of on the other side of the loom? any ideas?

    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
