Has anyone heard of Insight Motorsport (i think that's what it's called). A workshop recommended them to me for a tune.

Any thoughts?

Scott from Insight - they're in Arndell park (by Blacktown).

A few good mates have used him with great results... and I've been to a dyno day there and there's no doubt he looks after customer cars

As usual though, depends what ECU you have... I wouldn't use him for my power FC, for example, but I know plenty who have.

DAHTONE RACING are definitely a sure thing for an engine rebuild they can from mild to all out whatever you want

I grew up with these guys so i know the workmanship is second to none you'll get great service and great pricing...i trust them so much that they are currently building my new RB25/30 motor with all the trimmings

Here are some pics for those interests to see what we are bringing out of the shop this year

I recommend Maytech (in my signature)

I dont work for them or anything, just a regular customer there..

Mayan, the owner of the workshop, has great knowledge on knows RBs, SRs and a lot other engines like 4age and mitsubishis and audis..

he worked on my last 3 skylines and i never had any problems with his workmanship.

his latest project was a rebuild of a red r32 gtr, he did all the mechanical and electrical work... i think the car's still at the workshop waiting for new coilovers to arrive from japan. but the engine is complete, speak to him about it, and maybe even talk to the owner of the car if you get a chance, you'll be impressed.

best thing is, he doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

give him a call on 0296006995, if he doesnt answer then he's probably busy so just leave a message, he'll get back to you, tell him Thomas sent you

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
