Weird Dash

Hi guys, i just bought a ER34 GTT which comes with a monitor on the dash instead of the 3 factory gauges. The previous owner has removed the monitor so i suspect its spoilt already. Now anyone else has this simliar setup? Because i am thinking of putting 3 defis on the console and a DVD player (inbuilt screen might get in the way of the aircon switches). But i have no idea where to put the defis now and what i can do about the screen??? perhaps someone can suggest something??

i wanna get this fixed up soon so i can go on to other stuff by the way, anyone uses HKS hipermax2 setup on their car? if yes, how is the ride because i do not want something too hard and bumpy or my gf is gonna scream at me...

I think that is the screen that was a factory option (pop up screen).

If you really want to get rid of it, the fascia from the triple meter for the GTT is only about $120 from Nissan... you'd be better of fitting Nismo upgraded triple meter to match, as single meters are a bugger to fit.

the monitor does not work in Australia, so no point having it there.... jsut get the GTR middle console thingy, about $800 I think.. buying 3 defi gauges would hit approximately that pricing

usually the GTT middle console has the climate control right undeer the air con vents, you could probably try shifting the climate control up so you have dual din space to play around with. I had my dvd player mounted in that position

Thanks for the reply dude!! Yup, its a pop up screen (an option that not many people have i realized) So I can just get the fascia from Nissan for 120 and removed the old one and direct fit it on? What is the size of the holes for the gauges? im thinking of getting 3xDefis (60mm) and put into the fascia instead of using factory meters so i suppose it should be no problem fitting the defi gauges into the mould? This is a possible alternative for me right now just that if i were to do this, would fitting a motorized DVD player get in the way to the air con switches??

Anymore suggest from the rest of the guys?? Very much appreciated!! I wanna do it one time and nicely! Pics of similar consoles would be great for reference too... cheerios

The tv tuner wont work in aus with out a mod. Have a look in the car audio section i think you can make it work in aus (at least the dvd player should)

You will have to mod the guage holder (internal part at least) to fit the defis as they will be a larger diameter than stock. I think i have the internal part at home that all ready is modded if you want it.

Wen i imported my 34 i got the exact same setup. I tried for about 2 months to find a conversion kit or a way to mod the popup screen to work in Aus.

This is the solution i picked.

And this way you can do what sky 32 said and get the GTR MFD screen where the old popup tv was, or 3 gauges .

Hi elliot! thanks for replying and what you have done to your console is what i want!! So now i need to get the pod console cover in order to be able to fit in the 3 gauges? I have found one factory one for sale so i am going to get that one instead. And will use the factory gauges instead for the time being... and the console set up i am thinking of removing the GPS unit and make myself a double din space for a DVD player too. So the factory pods are not going to be able to fit defis eh... hmm... i hate the customization thingy.. hence will see how it goes 1st... 1st get that factory console meters into my car... Elliot, would be good to get more advice from you as i am not going to be able to do myself thus i will be going to shops to ask around as well... oh any bro here would be kind enough to help??

That sounds great!! However, i need to order the defis through a friend which will take about a week so if your factory gauge holder is gonna be able to fit defi then i can get it from ya!(Let me know if it fit defis and when i can get it off ya). Have pretty much decided to put the defi on the top of the console with or without the factory (of course it would be better with the factory gauge holder so it looks more legal) and the DVD player with motorized screen below the aircon vents and the air con controls relocate to the last din area. You guys are a great bunch honestly!

Keeping my fingers crossed that everything will work out fine for me... no sudden hiccups on wiring problems, sensor problems etc... hate it when that happens... My previous EG suddenly had its fuel lines loose after a service and stalled when i left home to visit my GF! (about 500m).. oh well, everyone have a good one!

Basicly there is two parts to the triple guage holder. The outside part that you see (i dont have this but im sure you can find one easy) and the internal part that holds the guages. The internal part has been modded so that it will fit the larger guages and also doing it this way means that from the outside it looks no different. Basicly once installed you wont see the outer ring of the guage only the complete guage face.

btw, before you consider getting a screen, think if its going to be used at all, I kinda regret getting a dvd screen, the car has to be on when playing otherwise battery goes flat, most of the time when the car is on, you'll be driving,

its for the passengers benefit I guess, but then again, the passeger would rather choose to talk to you then to play games or watch movies... in the year I've got the player, I've used it only once to watch a movie. and play music for the rest of the time. considering the money I spent on the screen, i could have gotten a high end head-unit. ^^

Thanks for the reminder dude! that make perfect sense but the purpose of me getting a DVD screen+player would be to entertain my GF who will be my "co-pilot" most of the time and when she is not in the car i can hear the music and such. Just thought it would be good to have the option of a dvd screen to watch movies or MTVs. but your point is taken and i will carefully reconsider my decision. thanks nevertheless! will start looking for a player after i am done with the defis. Defi, Rims, head unit, suspension in random order... haha have a good one guys!

Now im curious, does anyone have this up and running in perth?, and if so what mods were required to get it running. From what i can tell the unit has a sat nav feature, dvd player and a tv tuner. What features can i actually use, and what sorta price am i looking at to get this up and running?

Ash, i have sold the screen and is looking at putting defis with the CF surround which i got from overseas but have yet to put them on due to work. Might wanna give autotainment near burswood casino along GEH(GULF servo).
