Quick question can sum1 just explain to me wot is meant by the kg/cm2 gauge in my R33, when i start it, it is usually between 4 and 8, but once its been running for a while it drops down to 2 or even under.........wots a good level it should sit at??? coz sum people have told me if it drops too low its bad for the car, so now i wanna keep an eye on it but never knew what exactly it means.

cheerssss

well its a force (kg) over a area (cm^2) so its a pressure, im guessing in your case oil pressure, someone with a R33 manual will be able to tell you factory specs, but the factory gauge and sometimes not be extremely accurate.

A different measure to PSI (pounds per square inch) is kilogram per square centimeter ... so thats correct, its measuring pressure.

What gauge are you reading that displays this?

its obviously the oil pressure gauge, and it will depend on the integrity of the oil,

when you start the car the oil is cold and thicker when it thins out with the heat the pressure slowly drops

its sounds about right, but just do a oil/filter change to be sure then check your readings with fresh oil.

    • I recently got myself a 1989 r32 GT-R and it has some slight smokiness from the exhaust and misfires sometimes when coming off the throttle. I'm looking for a good mechanic in the Brisbane region who will do a good job on it. It'll need a diagnosis, and most likely an engine rebuild with refurb/stock parts (not looking for a motorsport build... yet). If anyone has done something like this before/knows stuff about this in terms of who can do it and how much it cost, I'd like to hear about it. I was looking on the forum and I found some posts from 2020 that were similar to this, but it has been a while since then so if anyone has any updated info that would be great.  I'm also new to the forum so if this topic should be in a different place please let me know. Thanks in advance!
