iBd14U
I've got a R33 series 2. But I'm having a gearing problem. When I give it a bit of a push in 1st gear at high rpm's it crunches trying to get in to 2nd. Only at low rpm's I can get in easily. Does anyone know what the problem is? Kdawgboostin33
Have you checked ur clutch is OK? Had the same sorta problem. Clutch was on the way out. Maybe change the gearbox oil and if you get no big metal chunks commin out in the metal it should be ok. iBd14U
Yeh I was thinking that it could be the clutch? But if it was the clutch then wouldnt it happen in every gear. Cause it only happens in 2nd at high revs. That's a good idea changing the oil didnt think of that. But if there is no metal chunks then I dont know what the problem is! Kdawgboostin33
Mate if theres big chunks in ya oil, it means the gear box is stuffed (It would be the Gear Cogs - Broken Away). But best just to change the oil and put in a heavy duty clutch. This should fix the problem. Cos it is still most likely the original oil from the Factory and at best some crappy Japanese oil. Had the same prob on my line new clutch and oil change = Good as Gold. Hope that helps Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21482-gearing-problems/#findComment-454172 Share on other sites

Airzone
Could be the synchros worn. Put in some nice gear oil. I put in redline shockproof and that cured 95% of my problems. Jimbo2000
/deniro voice are you talking to me if so, yup the redlines in there, feels a better than it used to just a bit of clunk at low revs but if it dosnt do it a high revs then is it still the synchro? Chef_32
Is Redline gearbox oil really that good compared to castrol stuff. I just bought the recommended 80w90 for my car, but i haven't put it in yet, should i get the redline stuff instead?? cobo_11
I just got Castrol Syntrax 75w-90 put in my gearbox (I couldn't get the darn filler plug undone! ha) and my gears seem a lot better, hardly crunch now, and it's even smoother when the gearbox is warmed up. cobo_11
by the way, only 2nd, 3rd and 5th gears were crunching in mine if I remember correctly, but I think my syncros are worn...or the gearbox is farked. but when I asked the mechanic if any metal chunks came out he said practically none. who knows...seems good now!! :-) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21482-gearing-problems/#findComment-551843 Share on other sites
