hey im new to this site and have a few qeustions how much power does a r33 95 gtst put out from factory and how much boost can i run with a standard cooler and remaped ecu it also has 3.5 inch exhaust pod so whats an estimate of power.also will a vl turbo intercooler and piping fit on the 33 if not is there much modding to get it to fit cuz i have a spare 1 lying around, also mine is an mspec what extra things do mspecs have ,and what are the best mods to do on a budget.

hey mate welcome to the forum!

if you hit the search button up top right hand corner and type in what you are looking for info on you will find everything you need to know! been discussed between members heaps of times. best way to go with the cooler would be to use it and get yourself a piping kit to suit an r33. Best mods on budget go: full exhaust from turbo back,hi flow cat, cooler, boost controller, intake and ecu remap or computer to run the show and you should be looking at somewhere around 200rwkw give or take.

hope this helps

Hi mate

Ive got a 95 gts-t myself, fun car. With the standard cooler It depends on what your using the car for. For the ocasional thrash I think around 10psi would be pretty safe. The stock turbo itself won't like much above 13-14psi without risk of damage. Remaped ecu is probably only worth doing once you have done quite a few mods.

The RB25DET I believe puts out 187kw at the flywheel stock. Once you factor in drivetrain loss, engine age etc I think stock your looking at around 140-150 kw at the rears. Not sure about the VL intercooler so can't help you there.

When you say your on a budget, just how much are you wanting to spend? Power is addictive. I remember when I first got my car, I said something like 'holy crap this is more power than I will ever need'

Of course a month later I was looking at mods.

i just spent a shit load on my vl turbo it has 300rwkw n i dont wanto spend to much 200rwkw would be gd as i said it has 3.5 exhaust from cat back n the pipe coming of the turbo looks to be 2.5 but not sure what size pipe do they come out with standard also has pod boost controller bov the guy i bought it of said the ecu has been remaped but im not sure

i was looking at mods others have done just wondering what is power fc

I have a 3" exhaust from the turbo, POD, Front Mount, 11psi on stock turbo and a PFC. (Base map, untuned so far)

I made 217rwkw with the stock ecu and a S-AFC 2 piggy back computer.

However I would take that 217 with a grain of salt, I think it was something more like 200-210 which would be more consistant with others.

My clutch is not likeing the power I will tell you that much.

what does power fc meen how much did u pay for the piggy back on yr ecu

The Power FC is a full ECU replacement. Its able to be fully tuned, removes basic limitations of the stock ecu like the speed limiter, Rich & Retard and other things. The piggy back I had was an Apexi S-AFC II which is an Air/Fuel controller. It intercepts signals going to the ecu and tricks it into thinking its getting different figures. It allows basic changes but is fairly limited.

I think from memory I paid around $200 for the SAFC, then another $150 or something to get it installed and tuned.

If your just after 200kw then you will need a full turbo back exhaust, a way of upping the boost, a better intercooler is probably a good idea but not absolutely vital I guess, just don't drive the car too hard. I think 200kw's is about where the stock clutch struggles as well. You will also benefit from either a POD or a highflowing Panel filter. All of those should get you close enough to 200.

Read the FI Guide?

And there are plenty of threads like this one for beginners.

Please have a search around, your new to the forum, so a lot of stuff is already covered in detail like what a PowerFC is etc.

Cheers

    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
