Hey guys,

Got turbo's off completely and am about to get the N1's fitted. Im going to replace all the lines with braided stuff to make it tidier, but i was wondering if there is anything else i should look at? Im not going for a power monster, im looking at 300rwkw and a responsive street car. So i have a few questions, some may sound stupid but im not super familiar with all the performance facts of GTR's so i figure asking can't hurt!

1. Can anything be done to standard manifolds / dumps that make a worthwhile difference? That doesn't cost a lot of money?

2. Should i reinstall all the standard heat shielding? Or do something different?

3. I have heard on R34 GTR's Dumps / Fronts from factory flow fairly well? is this true? i know aftermarket would be better but for what im after is it worthwhile changing them?

4. If the answer to 3 is yes, change them, are the CES Racing dumps / fronts a good item? Was looking at locally made to support them if they were good!

5. I have HKS pods to replace air box, should i start a DIY heat shield to increase the performance or do they perform fairly well just mounted standard?

6. Any other advice or things to do would be fantastic! Before i reinstall all the turbo side of the motor!

Thanks guys, appreciate all the input. Can always rely on SAU for some helpful info!

The only thing you could do so standard manifolds would be power porting them, it has good results but I would suggest is not at all needed for your power level. (I dont think it would be worth the money)

In terms of heat shielding the stock stuff works perfectly fine, no need to replace it with anything else 'cept for bling factor.

I'm not sure about the dump, i would imagine the stock ones would be orright. But I had the cash i would go the CES jobbies. I had that brand split dump/front pipe on my old s15 and it was a ripper. My vote would be do it if you can afford it.

Diy heat shild would be a VERY good idea for the exposed pods, factory airbox with panel filter would prob be better. I use an exposed pod simply because I love the induction noise though, i can only really feel heat soak in heavy traffic and i never flog it in that situation.

1. Not worth mucking around with

2. Yes

3. They are pretty good. Upgrade wont hurt however

4. Yes

5. Useless without CAI (airbox is better by far). So go about building CAI, or just use the perfectly fine airbox

6. Use the stock oil/water lines, all your doing by changing them is bringing another element of unreliability into the picture and another point where something can go wrong

cheers

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
