I'm in the Belco area. My brother's car (Honda 4 banger, nice looks but nothing overly special) just had a massive brick thrown through his passenger window. We heard a smash and a loud car like another honda/hyundai/something with a big canon exhaust on it hoon away. I rushed out and stood quietly on the street corner and could actually hear the same car going around Page/Scullin area, revving up high in second gear, then slowing down, very frequently, and repeatedly up and down the streets, like someone looking for something (more ppl to vandalise or attempt to steal I guess). I WISH my car wasn't in the shop atm, or I would have been after them like a shot, and I reckon I coulda tracked them down just by pulling over and listening for their srupidly loud engine noise telegraphing their position half a suburb away... especially in the cold morning air!

I'm so annoyed right now. One of my brothers front tyres blew out on him only 3 days ago, he's been patiently putting up with giving me lifts around to get my car sorted, and now this ****. I'm not a vigilante, but I would have found em, got their rego/make/model and maybe followed from a VERY long distance while having a passenger call the police to catch them.

There aren't words to describe how frustrating it is, and that's ME, not him - he'd be more p1ssed off! And MAN does it suck having slow-witted parents who are too scared to even go outside when they think a vandal is 'on the loose'.

Did anyone else in that area get vandalism, or notice any stupidly loud-exhausted cars going up and down streets??? It happened at about 2.50pm and they were cruising around the suburbs for at least the next 15 minutes, EASILY heard from several streets away. If so, PM me! WE'RE FUMING!!!!! :D:)

Errr I guess it would sound like every other little four cylinder car with a farty exhaust on it. I couldn't tell... just heard if hoon off, then it going up and down the streets in Scullin in a very 'wandering' fashion. Excess is gonna be $1600 (noone to point the finger at, and bro is under 25, with just cars). A friend of his said his Prelude's window was 600 itself to fix, and there's panel damage on my bro's, so we figure easiest to just make the claim and be assured the repairs will be good (or sorted out if the insurance repairer stuffs it up, as we know they can).

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
