cost me $220 to tune my SAFC on a single turbo soarer! im sure a Powerfc would take longer but not much i wouldnt imagine, thats if everything is ready to rip and you dont have any other unforseen issues  Mine was done at Trojan!

A good tune should *last* years. Assume u mean 'take' :w00t: Depends if your getting a fuel/timing controller, a boost controller, or the whole shebang (full ECU). A full ECU from scratch is like... 600-700? The others, maybe half that I guess.

You packing a bender, PFC or stand alone? EDIT: Faaark! I just found the car you purchased, "veeedy nice"

$1000 is steep for the first two, though it clearly depends where you take it to get tuned. I'm not sure iv heard of anyone in cbr that would warrant giving 1k to. Unigroup is well spoken about in Sydney.

How long? - PFC's don't have the same "self tweak" function as the OEM ECU does. They'll trim fuel by a decaying % to take into account wear like fuel pumps, lazy injectors etc.

That said a tune should last years i would have thought, assuming you don't move to the coast or something >_< A setup like yours, I would have thought, would be at dyno days, events and generally have a wideband up his ass often enough to know if at least if WOT figures are remaining solid.

Hahahah man i need to grow up. Seeing you, quote me, who quoted Borat maketh me chuckle... still.

Yah nah, i saw Goldie had 13 posts to his name... 2.7sec's later - SAU coughed up the R33 'for sale' thread. Check it, 6boost m.fold, t04z, 264's... :D

I kinda guessed something like this. In that case, we could have been more useful in answering his original question! Seems to me like it would be a pretty in-depth tune by a mechanic for a PFC running all that, but then wouldn't the car already be tuned? Is there a particular problem you want to get rid of with a new tune Goldie?

Hi Everybody.

First up - thanks for the info.

Question answered, a tune should last over a year then ? Only asking cause if i'm forking out that sort of moolah, I want to know how often, so knowing a tune is a wise investment as it last over year ..cool.

Yeah ruff quotes in Canberra where from $750 start to the $1,1k mark - and have no probs in going to syd to get it done also.

sl33py - Since picking up the car - I get the feelin the ride it's been tuned purely for top end speed, (I've never been in anything that goes from 90km/h to 170km/h in like 3 seconds)

it's running very rich and does not like stop starts and low idles, it hunts for revs after coming to a stop ....but I want to get it back to 0 to 100 tune (if that makes sense) I don't want top speed, I want 0 to 100, beat everyone off at traffic lights etc etc.

Cheers all.

You might not be able to change much in regards to the engine characteristics. Big turbo + big cams + ported head + big plenum, usually = rough idle and big top end power so a bitch of a street car with a fair bit of lag in other words.

The problem there is that as the car has a large turbo on it. As hard as you try to make more low RPM torque the best your going to be able to do is probably add in a bit more ignition advance down low. Large turbo's on small engines (as opposed to say an LS1) just don't make much low RPM torque.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 馃檹 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 馃槈. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 馃槏 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
