hey all got my car home last nyt and turned the key off let the timer kick in blah blah went to start it again and it started then stalled, and for some reason the fuel pump earth just died? Now i want to know why is it a shielded earth ..

according to the stupid manual it goes to the fuel control mudule lol were ever the f*k that is

Is it ok just to bypass the earth and run an earth straight to the body as this is what i have had to do to get it to run again,

Oh and its got a nismo pump in it to,

cheers pete

any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated

not sure if its relivant but with my r33 i had a similar prob, there was a engine control fuse which was blowing due to a intermitent earthing of a wire at the ox sensor on the dump pipe, which had perished due to the heat. this also disabled the idle control solenoid, and the stock ebc wiring,

i just ran a new earth. and positive

Maybe the control module burnt out or similar?

Not sure why the earth wire is sheilded, but I has something to do with the way the module drops the voltage by dumping some of the current to ground. The module it's self is grounded to the body of the car and this is where it dumps the excess.. maybe it has came loose and it not gounding correctly?

I think it's a handy thing to have.. I don't see why you would want to bypass it making the fuel pump run full noise at idle and low RPM.

For my car I have added a relay that bypassed the module and grounded it with a large wire when the AFM sees over 2.5V. For the rest of the time it's running through the module with low voltage.

Thnx alot for the info and suggestions i got it all sorted,

hi there, can you give me details about how you fixed this problem please?

that thread from years ago is quite useful, with lots of diff causes and solutions
