I spoke with Ivan from RPM. He reckons there's not that much difference in a car with a powerfc compared to a remapped std. comp. He said to me a guy had the std. comp in his r32, then changed to a power fc and the hp was the same but the mid range picked up 10-20kw.

Think he big difference is power fc gives you the ease of adjusting without having to plug an computer in, which can be handy. Also allows for monitoring of systems, AFM, injectors, knock, revs, speed, boost blah blah.

Another big plus with the power fc is that it is fully portable and can be resold alot easier than a chipped ecu.

Bottom line, is it worth it? Perhaps that is something that only the person fitting the power fc, or remapping their ecu can answer, but remapping is definately a good cost effective way of squeezing more out of your car.

If you have a chip already, makes remapping even more cost effective.

Just realised I saw 9krpm at Morpowa when my car was up - thats one sweet ride you got there!

Sorry for the late introduction as I did not know who you were and can't help drooling about your car too.

Thanks for the complement.

Matt, I got knock sensor;)

Yeah very true mate. Mind you @ 180+km/h I don't think the "eng check" light flashing would've helped me in time anyway.

Hmm, I think maybe you underestimate the usefulness. I have grone accustomed to its presence, and it so much as blinks once and I am off the gas - works really well, my paranoia helps.

It actually activates quite low on the scale to give you plenty of warning, well before its enough to cause problems.
