hi guys was just wondering if anybody knows if RSFour suspension is different to the suspension i would have in my RWD RSV. there are alot of coilover kits for RSFours but not a big range for the RWD stagea and i just wanted to know if there is a difference.

hay champ i have a 2001 rsv the rear coilovers are the same But the front is totaly different  im an still looking to find coilovers that will fit fit in the front

the brakes are different then rs4 too what year model is urs.

i have a 98 model series 2. do you know what the difference is in the front or do you just know its different. the RSFour has a GTR front suspension set up so im guessing that maybe an RSV is more similar to a 33GTST. i really dont know enough about either of the models to say to much but i have found a few sets of WGC34 (not WGNC34) specific coilovers on a few sites. just wondering also if SK will be able to differentiate the difference between the models as im going to be ordering some sway bars from him as my car doesnt even have a rear sway bar fitted.

There is some talk about RWD brakes in the Stagea Brake thread atm but don't think any of its conclusive yet. And afaik the RWD's use a fork setup like the GTR or 260RS in the back instead of the bush GTST type. And I think that the strut top hats or something need to be machined down a bit to fit as well, once again afaik. Try the yahoo auctions through import monster or slide and see if they have anything listed for RWD stageas. Might find something :)

also what difference have u noticed with the brakes. i was thinking of putting 33 gtst calipers and discs in soon anyway so it probably wont matter that much.

Gtst caliper will fit, but a couple of washers are needed to space the caliper correctly. Gtst rotors will not fit at all: the offset is completely wrong (around 5mm or so).

well thas funny cause i just went out and had a look at my rear shockers and i definatly have bush type not fork struts. about the brakes i would just like to know why they would have diffent types just for a RWD and AWD. bloody stageas this is getting to be annoying.

i just got these of import monsterpost-44842-1212979188_thumb.jpgpost-44842-1212979205_thumb.jpg $200 + postage for RWD specific coilovers with the standard springrates and camber tops

Yeah that was my bad, I was getting confused with the series 2 rs4s manual stageas not the rwd stageas.....oops

The 4wd Stageas have a shorter front shock and spring as they have to leave room for the front driveshafts. This requirement also affects the front swaybar location and the front radius rods. The rear is the same for the 2wd and 4wd, only the 260RS is different as it has GTR style forks for the lower shock mounts.

You can use R33GTST front shocks and springs in 2wd Stagea, but the rates aren't ideal. Much the same as using R33GTST rear shocks, they fit, but aren't designed for the extra weight and higher CoG of the waggon. You still can't use R33GTST rear springs as the Stagea top mount is much narrower, presumably to increase the rear load space.

Cheers

Gary

RWD S2 stag uses mac strut type front suspension so R33 will not fit.

I would say rears probably wont fit either.

C34 Laurel shocks are the best fit and are what i have, along with RWD stagea specific Tein springs.

Its the same style as s14 silvia but it think the silvia is shorter?

You will find that parts for a rwd stagea are a PITA.

Dmonic. Those green coilovers in the pic look correct, i would go for those.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
