Was on my way home from the Glenelg Port game.

Minding my own business, didnt do a thing wrong.

See a cop right behind me. I keep going. he changes lanes, changes back then pulls me over.

'just testing a few people around here for drugs and alcohol'

I passed the test. Lucky I didnt shoot up some H today.

These wheels look too big mate. Im pretty sure R34's came out with 15's. I couldnt believe he said that.

I said nah pretty sure they came out with 17.

He wouldnt shutup about them coming out with 15's "but I could be wrong, im not a mechanic"//

I lift up the bonnet. Looks nice and clean they both say.

One cop was really nice, the other was cracking a fat the whole time. Im sure he was very excited to find some blue tubing heading toward the greddy controller.

Intercoolers arent allowed. he says. pods arent allowed he says.

I know both are legal is properly mounted etc. etc.

He then changes his mind and agrees they are legal.

WTF>

He sugests I put some 15s on the car. Yeah sure.

Now I have no problem being pulled over for doing something stupid. If im on my way home surely I can drive in peace. I know people will say dont have the stuff on the car.

My old man was in the car and he even commented to the cops. 'You guys really like picking on these nice cars dont you ?' He said it all in a very nice tone.

I then listed the things to fix to the old man. He asks what certain things done. like boost controllers etc etc. In the end he said 'big deal, what about the 300kw v8s getting around ?'

Alittle more boost is gonna kill the planet.

anyway im going to regency and pretty pissed off.

questions.

1. Is it even remotely worth tryin to get thru regency with coilovers ? prolly not/

2. how hard is it to rip the powerFC out and run the car nice?

3. most people get their exhaust checked ? Ive been thru twice a while back and they didnt test sound.

4. 18inch wheels pass at regency ?

5. My lock diff is startin to knock around, will they pick on anything to do with the diff ? :D

bad news man, thats got to suck!

and in answer to your questions,

1. no on the coilovers

2. Power FC's can be hidden, but best to put in a standard ECU.

3. best to borrow a standard exhaust.

4. 18's are legal, depends on offset, best to borrow stockies

5. diff should be ok, as long as they dont hear it makin noise, or your tyres chirping when you turn.

yeah agree chad. its best if you get it through 1st time, much less overall time, money and hassle.

My cefiro went through Regency about a month ago, left the coilovers in it and the bloke told me to remove them or have them checked for a certain amount of travel. Was easier just to remove them.

And I thought that you cant go any higher then 2" with wheels, if standards are 15" then 17" is as far as you can go? Is that right...

Good luck mate... How I got done was the same kinda way.

just see if you can borrow a standard cat back exhaust, Tilbrook auto and dyno found one to put on my car when i went to regency, if no one on hear has one you can borrow, then give them a call.

I've heard Mark at Exhaust Tech is great with helping out defectees.

i'm pretty sure all they do is check the sound level with exhausts.

You mightn't be keen, but you can stick a baffle plate between two flanges to shut it up a little. Mine got through by doing this. If you do use one, just make sure you drive like a granny and try and stay off boost as much as you can.

With the diff, just try and ride the clutch when the car is in the inspection shed, so it doesnt lock and chirp the tyres.

Might look into that.

I know in the end all will be fine. Its just a real pain in the ass.

Might sell the powerFC. not sure yet. wonder howmuch I could get for it.

Damn mate that sucks! I know how you feel though having my ass reamed by Regency only recently myself... as others have said, get the coilovers off, definately put the standard ECU in (don't risk it) and if you can source one, just get a standard cat back if you are worried about noise.

Good luck and hope all goes well!

I think most things are pretty simple to fix.

Im not to farmiliar with ECU's tho. howmuch for standard. and whats involved.? easy to rip out powerfc? still thinking of hiding it well and trying to get thru.

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
