hey just wondering

pod filters...are they completely illegal

or only when not cased properly??

i found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...52BSI%26otn%3D4

and wondering...will the rta pass that at an inspection?

i need to get my car reinspected...wondering...will they pass that if it had a pod inside??

or will i have to get a stock?

also are exhaust silencers legal?? if so...how must they be mounted to make them so.

thanks

pods gotta be completely enclosed, then engineered.

that box would prob pass at a pink slip but from my experience, if its not back to stock, or engineered, RTA inspection wont pass it.

and silencers which can adjust the noise or emissions, are not allowed. but it depends how well you want it done

ie the electronic silencers are pretty subtle, i have a butterfly valve after my cat and i went through the same thing you are without a problem :(. just make sure its not obvious.....im sure you can think of a few things....

Yeah, sounds about right - i have a similar style box enclosing my pod (r32 gtst not engineered) but havent had any trouble, as it is very subtle like the one on ebay.

Very small chance of getting defected for it if you are pulled over. I've been pulled over for an RBT, had the car looked at by HWP and it has never been defected.

An engineer ive spoken to has basically said to me the ADRs involving air filter enclosures are bs, and he'll pass anything as long as it looks fully enclosed.

Depends who pulls you up.

EPA can still ping you for increased induction noise. Whether or not you get done for it: who knows.

Outa sight outa mind. Play nice and they mightn't get you. I got done for a BOV, "not enough rubber on foot pedals" and no h-pattern. They missed the friggin massive 4" HKS filter stickin out the front but!!!!!!!

I use a sliencer on my GTR, it restircts power but I dont mind as only going to work and back..

Mine is like a "butt plug" LOL, you just put it at the end of the exhaust and bolt in and makes a 3inch hole into a 1inch hole. Had to drill a little hole in the side of my exhaust cause they need to be bolted in, Or will fall out when accelarating

It does keep the police at bay I think, cause they dont notice you as much...But it's really up to the cop that pulls you over for what he wants to defect you for..most are cool about it cause you're atleast trying to the right thing :)

Pods are illegal... I was speaking to a friend who I used to work GD's with who know does HWP. Even if it is engineered it still doesn't comply with the ADR's.... Just hide it well enough and most police won't even know what it is or what it does :-)

And those silencers are brilliant.... First time I saw Brad and Jess's (SINFUL) GTR I thought it sounded soft as, until the silencer was off, I then felt very very stupid...

pods are used in newer falcons of some sorts. They're just enclosed. Has to do with induction noise as to if they're legal or not. Just making the point that: they aren't completely illegal. You pass EPA and engineers certificate... and it's legal.

Police wanna say otherwise; they're making it up. I've been defected for things that engineers say are nto in ADR at all; but if you go to blue slip it, you get headaches. If you have the paperwork, money and time; you can take it to court, if not... you change it and pass it.... then change it back.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
