Why not?

Why would you be looking at the RR if you were just curious?

And i fully expect to make a healthy profit on my Forester... why wouldnt i expect the same from the Evo or indeed the RR if it were the right price?

Besides, i doubt very much the evo wagon will make the SEVS register...its been out for nearly 3 years and nothing has happened so unless theres something else you know that i dont...

One more thing which you may have forgotten... they only made a grand total of 2500 Evo wagons,... cant see that many getting down there...

Don't get defensive love - I wanted to look at the RR because I AM curious, and I thought you might be interested to see how much they're selling for at auction. I own an EP3 Type R, so I can hardly be accused of being anti-Honda.

If you purely wanted to make a profit, then a luxury car is always your best bet, but obviously not the most fun thing to drive - at the other end, you can choose an S14, thrash the crap out of it and have an awesome time with it, and at the end, make a little bit of money on them.

In between the two extremes is a sliding scale of fun v profit, and somewhere in there is a sweet spot where you can make a bit of money and have fun with the car. A Forester is an excellent choice in that regard.

I have no idea what the retail is on an RR, but the number of people looking to spend more than $50K on a Civic would be very small, while there would be a heap willing to spend the same coin on an Evo wagon. That was my point.

And the only reason the wagon isn't on SEVS is because I haven't had a crack at the application yet :whistling: and 2500 is still worth it.

You can choose to ignore what I'm saying, I'm not going to take it personally, and if you buy an RR and make big money on it back here, then more power to you.

lol, dont worry, my jocks arent all up in knots.

Youre spot on about the market trends and i also agree that the civic would struggle to make a large chunk of change but the demand is still there. If you check Goo net, they have a bunch going for between 4.5 and 5.5 million which is a lot to spend on a civic but the car is limited to 300 cars so the exclusivity is very high. I personally cant see many people having a stab at it - not the RR but definitely the standard type R which is from what ive heard more suited to daily driving. The RR doesnt even come with a stereo for example and the ride is much harsher. The standard R can be had for around 2mil. Not bad value at all.

I would love to know what you find out this RR is going for because as you know its one of the options for the next investment. That and the standard R plus the Evo.

I will likely lean towards the evo because in my discussions over the net, demand for that car is high and they are rarer than the STi..i think4 at last count? It is another wagon though and to be honest, Im already used to the STi and its manners and im a little bored of it. I need something more hard edged.

In any case, I see youre an adeladean and youll be in Tokes at some point soon so hit us up an email when youre in town - maybe we can arrange something.

    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
