Nice post with lots of helpful info.

Cheers. :D

Yeah i was referring to both of you actually.

Youve both been very helpful.

Its not every day we get a thread on paint care... :)

Ok guy's,

I've been extremely busy so that's why i am responding to you now !

I am also getting ready for next months trip to Sydney, jobs, meetings etc....

The GTR 35 was clayed down extensively and no i didn't take any PTG reading's because i thought that the PO 106 FF would not remove enough paint to

warrant a reading . With the paint correction i did i probably removed less than one micron .

I would have however taken PTG readings had i used Menzerna Power gloss, or PO 85 RD 3.01 with a wool pad or similar combination , any other questions ?

Paint technology is changing so rapidly that i have always kept up to date with the latest Technology and this is just the beginning !

I have been testing new polishing compounds which use nanotechnology ( Not Sonax, or Menzerna ) .

Sorry, i can't disclose the product's name at this stage until it's released to the Australian market and further testings are done plus .

That's just a taste of things to come so be patience i will keep you informed !

Regards Mario :D

Daniel,

even though you are using a forced rotation machine, you're using Final Finish, how much clear do you think you'll be removing?? :D

Interest to hear your thoughts re: 106FF choice for BOTH polishing stages? And given the car is jet black, why not finish on CCS Black

One thing CCS Black does not cut like CCS white and when you are left with fine blooming on the paint ( very fine haze)Black CCS will not correct that problem !

Don't be fooled by less power of a Flex forced rotation machine , it will do some serious damage like a rotary, i have tested this machine

for a solid month before i committed myself to putting my money down .

And to further prove my point here is the full review i wrote on the Flex http://www.detailparadise.com.au/modules.p...opic&t=2912

Enjoy !

Regards Mario :)

Hey Guys,

Just got the news today ! :D

Got another New GTR 35 to polish in six to nine weeks time ! :D Not sure if it's going to be another Jet Black or a Titanium Metallic !

I will keep you all posted :(

Regards Mario :)

Hey Mario

NICE WORK ON THE GTR! I figured you are the best person to help me with my question

Have a look at the pix, I recently found these bubble like bumps on my bonnett, they feel like as if something is underneath the paint.......do you know the cause of this? how do I fix it?

the paint is still under warranty, is this something that the warranty normally covers?

thanks in advance for your advice :D

Lj,

The photos show me some thing but i need to see the car ?

Perhaps wetsanding might get those defects out , but i also need to do PTG ( Paint Thickness Gauge ) measure the paint film build .

Send me a PM please .

Regards Mario :D

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
