I have been having issues with my car going into R&R mode I installed a PFC recently and had it tuned (unigroup), now what I have noticed is two tings my car now has a hesitation/pause, almost light somethings cutting the power this comes every now and again I think its always been there but its only noticeable with the power FC (don't think its in the tune). My knock reading on the power FC will go as high as 112 but the engine light does NOT come on at all. I think this hesitation/pause has always been there, but possibly the tune has made the hesitation more noticeable. Its seems to only do it on light acceleration. And the knock reading wont go above 38 at any other time. I am thinking the fuel pump is on the way out???????? Also the engine light attached to the power fc knock system is set at 60 is there a way to check its on/set at 60. Any suggestions?????

First up, I'd talk to Yavus about what he thinks about your hesitation, as he clearly would have noticed it.

What turbos have you got - surge maybe?

PFC's don't have RR.

112 knock is bad, don't do it.

Datalogit / power excel to check the knock flash setting.

Fuel pressure gauge should show a f.pump weakness.

I have std turbos, I know Power Fc don't have R&R it was doing it on my std computer it just wasn't noticeable (cant think of any other reason I was having R&R too coincidental) and sometimes it will have this hesitation and not read any knock ???? i would have thought Yahulz would have picked it up as well but they wouldn't do a power run on very light throttle and its intermittent, and as I said the power fc is not reading knock and showing me on the dash light as I have never seen the engine light come on. Dont have datalogit. yeah i should give him a call but i dont think its got anything to do with his tune its an unrelated problem but he is the man to see. its just miles away from where i live.

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
