Hi Guys,

Atm my r33 has no alarm Im looking for a good alarm with remote start, so i can start my car few minutes before work and everything will be warmed up and ready to go. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with skylines and remote start is there any brand that i should go for ? and anything reason why i shouldnt buy this ?

Cheers from Nathan.

mine stuffs up and wont hold starter for long enough....so takes 2 or 3 times to start up....thats when shes cold....but ok when warm.....

but i think its a hassle more then helpful....just last night when i walked inside, threw the keys down.....then a few mintues later i thought i heard a car sitting in the driveway....the damn car had started

i don't think its very good at all...warming up your car on idle for a long time isn't good for your engine anyway. should warm your car up by driving gently and conservatively till your car reaches nominal operating temp.

Nah i havnt seen one stuff up and pin a kid to a wall, the guy leave it in gear ?

nope neutral safety switch failed. the vehicle usually didnt start if in gear in this case it did.

i have the viper

with remote start

i like it and it is a good peice of gear

Yeah im getting few mixed comments about this alarm, it does seem like a good alarm has remote start and the turbo timer would be useful.

it does not actually have a turbo timer

the instaler can integrate one into it for you

i was told it had one but after it was intalled i was advised the instaler can integrate one into it for you

wtf

oh well

remote start is just a cool gimmick

the secrity fetures are what you want to buy an alarm for ....right?

Nope if i didnt see the remote start or the so called turbo timer i wouldnt have giving it a second look. Is this alarm worth the money ?

no.

look at the 480xv.

How much do those go for ? The VIPER 791XV i can get for $305 on ebay delivered from the states.

EDIT:

When im ready ill go down and check out the situation at a proper store and get them to fit it at the same time, Also heard the Viper alarms arnt Aussie standard approved so thats gay.

get a mongoose m80. auto start are pointless in my opinion and just increase the price. imobilisers, black wiring, sensors and installation should be what your spending your money on.

The whole point of the auto start was because i heard that you have to warm the car up for the turbo before you move, but seems like this isnt the case if you dont thrash it all the way up the street. My intentions were positive but it is just a cool gimmick like that dude said. Just looked at the mongoose m80 its cool cheers man.

not to mention if you buy from ebay its not covered for warranty either.

the one you really need to look at is the 480xv as it IS Oz stds and has two way paging.

chuck the model number into google. its not a DIY alarm

as for the 791 - if you drive a manual car I can steal your car with the alarm engaged!

You dont need to warm a car up, if you drive gently while the car is below normal running temp, you wont have an issue.

As for the remote start, you do realise insurance more than likely wont cover a car fitted with such a device, and it's also against ADR, and makes your car defectable (more defectable).

B.

The other thing to consider is that remote start alarms jsut make the car easier to steal .

Thief finds remote start module, triggers it and car starts..

No need for hot wiring.

It would be like having a guard dog with no teeth.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
