Well I'm going to tread hijack a little here cause I can't be bothered making a new topic.

The Skidpan day was a damn good giggle today. Thanks to Dereck and all the lads that came out for a spin. For those of you who were their (you know who you are) send me a PM and I'll link you to some of the photos I took. Don't really want to publicly post them without your permission.

See everyone at the next day, and remember . . . keep your chin up!

Can't be bothered making a new topic again.

Are any of the usual suspects heading out to the pan tomorrow, 31st January?

Just wondering if you are, and you're one of the lads with a "ECUTalk Consult," if you'd be willing to bring it along and let me try it on my r33. If you're not coming out or you can't be bothered removing it from your car it's no big deal, but if you're there and it's convenient and your willing to I'd like to give it a try.

Cheers,

Rob.

i'm interested in getting my car out on te skid pan and playing around with it..

how do i go about it?

i hear you guys always talking about, i would love to get my car out there.

thanks

just come out tomorrow and talk to Derek, he will let you know when the next one is on and ask him to reserve you a spot..

if you cant talk to him then see if you can get intouch with ZCR, TURISMO or Mccready as they are regulars out on the skidpan and i believe that 1 if not all of them will be there tomorrow

Thanks TURISMO, but don't go out of your way. If it was gonna be nice and handy I would like to test it out for 5 min or so. I've already spoken with the guys who make them and have been placed on the mailing list for the next batch, but would have liked to try one before hand. If you're gonna be in the area it would be sweet, but like I said, don't go out of your way for it.

Appreciate the offer though.

drool, is that black 4 door the autech replica? dang it two other 4 door skylines there, anyone going to the skidpan day on the 15th? Does derek have to do DB readings on cars now? damn.

yea it seems if your car looks loud he'll do the DB check. as long as its not stupidly loud he doesnt mind. had it done to my friend's car at the one i organised a few weeks ago lol

i might go to the one on the 15th, money pending and whether my suspension will be in by then

great pics anthony! sorry the SAU sticker is soo dirty!

what time did you get to the skid pan shell? we were in the morning session. i won't be out there on the 15th, i'll be there on the 22nd at a private booking instead

    • @Supernanoyour car has ended up in my hands and I was wondering if there has been any work done to the motor?
    • Sigh... yeah OEM mount rear battery, very R33, very demure, very mindful.
    • Would need a substantial current draw in the car to make a bunch of sparks. Obvs to now test resistance to ground of the car's B+ lead. If there's a short there, you'll see it. Only likely place for that, as you suspect is alternator. But there is also the possibility that rats have had a chew on some insulation. Shitbox has the battery in the boot, yeah? Plenty of cable to attack.
    • Oh, I thought of that too... I disconnected the battery and hooked up the leads direct to the car without the battery in place. Sparks... I suspect the following: Alternator has decided to kill itself Starter has decided to kill itself I'll recharge the battery, then unplug both, and go from there. The above might take 6 months - however I did buy a Victron 15 AMP trickle charger, apparently it's better than CTEK?
