I have a '92 R32 RB20DET, running 196kw.

The problem has appeared since the tune, and I am unsure if it is because of the tune or if there is something else causing this problem.

When i give the car any stick, and change gears in high rpm, the car kinda bogs down and hesitates causing the car to stutter once. After that it revs fine until i quick shift the next gear and it will happen again.

It almost feels like it is over fuelling or something when I change gears....

I could kinda work around the problem by riding the clutch on the change. However, since the new clutch, it doesn't like to be ridden so the problem can't really be avoided.

Is this normal? am I changing gears wrong? is it just turbo lag?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Sounds like AFM reversion, my car does it too,

its when the air goes backwards out through the afm when the throttle closes and causes the ECU to dump a shit load of fuel into the motor then cuts the fuel when the air stops for asplit second to start flowing back into the engine. What sort of BOV do you use a good plum back one should stop it.

Cheers man,

Yeah that's what it feels like is happening. I am using a HKS SSQ BOV, so there is no plum back :\

I know my AFM is being maxed out, would getting a Z32 fix this problem?

is your BOV plummed back ? if its atmo, then thats your problem. Changing AFM's wont do anything for this particular issue.

Yeah its atmo.....I wouldn't have thought that it would be a problem..... and why has it become a problem since the tune?

different tunes will be dumping different ammounts of fuel...

get a stock bov... mines fine on 20psi, the "stock bov leaks" thing is just bullshit from people that are too embarrassed to admit they really only have the aftermarket bov for the sound :ermm:

not to mention the aftermarket bov is really the only thing many many cops are looking for under your hood :(

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
