Hey blokes,

i did a quick search and looked at the sticky thread but id just like to comfirm if there are any differences between the r32-r34 gtr transfer cases regarding which fluid to use; SAU recommmends castrol transmax Z but should i spend more and opt for the toyota v160 auto tranny fluid i used in the getrag?

anyone here have an r34 gtr who has done a fluid change and not encountered any issues?

id appreciate any help

thankyou.

Mark "100% throttle even when sideways at 170MPH" Jacobsen is the owner, rider and trainer of the 3rd fastest GTR

My old bus was the worlds fastest low-mount vehicle...until another aussie took that crown from me.

but yeah...tranzmax z Johnny

I have this DVD ignition GTR special and whos the bloke doing the interview? is it you or mark?

Ahhh mad, u seem like a nice bloke! great car too.....in fact if i hadnt bought my r34 gtr i would have bought yours.

Congrats on the time; are u gonna try n beat it???

due to the fact i was restricted to a terminal speed below 140MPH with the old set-up, even just pulling 4th gear will see it go quicker and faster (yes 9.95 @ 139 MPH using only 3 gears!). ANDRA rules state that any car exceeding 140MPH must have a parachute fitted, and due to the fact i didn't have one...i was holding it in 3rd for half of the track...i knew that 9100rpm over the line in 3rd gear would run 139 MPH...not 140. The new PPG dogbox, much bigger turbo and a parachute fitted will see the car run much faster and quicker...how much?...well only time will give the answer to that one. Id love to run a 8.9 though.

Amazing.....holding redline like that while concentrating on going straight on is a challenge.

id like to see the first low mount turbo car with a parachute out the back and what your excuse to the police officer would be.

Good luck mate, please let us know when you get running again as im keen to see it.......keep safe though!

UPDATE

Got my car back from the mechanics; had castrol transmax Z put in. Sold from Bursons it was 90dollars for 4 litres.

Now no noticible change in the car but its nice and smooth and under some throttle in 1st n 2nd there were no warning lights or strange noises.

For anyone with an r34 gtr unsure of what to use, the castrol is fine. I, like always am very paranoid and had thought r34 transfer cases would require a different fluid to the r32 and 33.

Im not hesitant to use it in my gearbox the next time a service is due as i paid a premium for toyota getrag v160.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
