I have found a place that can supply a brand new zexel compressor to fit r33 sreies 1

they are not cheap, but if you have gone throught the hassle of buying shit ones form

the wreckers buy/fit/regass only to find they last several months at best

then its worthwhile considering a newbie. :D

Im waiting for mine to be delivered, just to make sure everything is perfect

before i suggest to this place to everyone else

You would be looking about $750+25 delivery

which is equivalent to buying 2 crap ones from the wreckers & having them regassed!!

the original compressor lasted for over 10years, so another new one should last for the life of the car

Im sure they would be able to get one for your car too. They will require all the numbers & possibly photos

of the compressor to make sure it matches up.

You can get them rebuilt too. Just another option ;)

I have been told no one will rebuild these...have you had one rebuilt?

Where could you get them rebuilt? how much does it cost to rebuild?

and would it come with a warranty?

im assuming that it wouldnt be much less than a replacement unit?

When i looked at getting my 32 compressor rebuilt a few ppl said there's no rebuild kits left for them. Maybe that same has now happened for 33s?

A rebuild should come with a warrantee.

Good points you made. I havent had one rebuilt but if i did i would contact Mr cool here in Brisbane. It would come with a warranty or they would never get any work. I think from memory they are around $300 to rebuild your average compressor. Its mostly just large o-rings, bearings and they probably replace the clutch.

Most compressors can be rebuilt, but no one wants to rebuild these!!

...has anyone actually tried to get one rebuilt??

Hi,

I'm interested in this thread aswell, so anyone had one rebuilt?

I took my r32 gtr to get the aircond checked out, and they said that the compressor needs replacing and the quote was approx $1700 including labour.

So questions are.

Anyone had a R32 GTR Compressor rebuilt?

is the R32 GTR compressor same as R32 GTST or any other cars?

Can anyone give a URL for a new replacement R32 GTR compressor?

cheers,

Michael

When I had my N14 pulsar, the compressor in it went on me. It was a zexel. I tried to get mine rebuilt, I even bought a s/h one for parts to make one out of two. I struck the same sort of thing, no-one could or wanted to rebuild it so I was forced to buy a new one from nissan, cost $640 and a regas. no-one seems to have any parts for the zexel.

they are the same, the GTR just has a small relocation pipe that bolts onto the compressor to move the fitting forward 3 inches or so.

swapped a GTST one for a GTR one on sunday.

+1 for Mr Cool in brisbane, if they can't rebuild it I doubt anyone can. I've got a few contacts for places that will get them in if you provide numbers, they mainly sell business to business but are known for a cash sale :P Pm if you want details

    • All 3 I guess. The car came with the JASI Aero 4 door Type R Full Kit unpainted so this was one thing at the top of my list to complete then I noticed there were body panels parts for this kit so i picked them up along with some black mesh to fill in the front bumper and front side air vents. car is at a paint and body shop atm completing this work. Next I will be addressing the internal bells and whistles, great summer project I can do with the kids.  full interior removal - ,boys car sound deadening - pads and spray ,boys stereo, sound, lighting - Big 3, GTT or bigger alternator ,kids head lining - dye black add star lighting mod ,daughter. That's it for the next 5-6 months. I have some motor maintenance  work i have to plan out. oil filter relocation, gaskets, mounts. beyond that, mind is starting to turn over if i can use a DET intake plenum, block off turbo ports & pipe in a air intake.
    • roller coaster of a ride. Alarm system was removed & main harness was repaired where possible. still no fix just random successful starts. moved on to the replacing the ignition switch and relay. well all this troubleshooting & repair has been going on, the car is at a paint and body shop being pushed around. Ive been going down there on odd days after work to get it sorted.

    • I think he was only proposing to use the wire, not the sender. Simply because it runs from the right place to the right place. Personally, I wouldn't hack up the factory wiring like that. I'd just lay in the Defi loom.
