Hi. This i smy first post. I am from the States and I own a 240sx (180sx to you guys) I am waiting for my RB25DET clip to come in and I have done some research on the stock turbo performance. I found this highflow T3 turbo and was wondering how it matches up to the RB25DET engine. As you can see the compressor flow is 35lbs/min. That should be good for 350 hp. I don't know if any turbo rebuilders here in the states will know what to do with the stock RB25 turbo. Here is a link to the site that sells this turbo. he specs are listed there. I know it will problably take some fab but that's ok I ahve always made my own DP's on past turbo cars

I think that will be a little small for the RB25, a bit smaller than the stock turbo.

what sort of power are you after? Is this going to be a drift car, circuit, drag, street? or all of the above:D

Have a look at the GT28 series, they would give you a good midrange and top end. GT30s go well too.

I have done a bit of searching here and I found alot of posts about turbo upgrades but most of the disscusion is on turbo's that I am don't know much about (Jappeness turbos) I just wanted to know how this turbo would stack up against the stock one. The car would be daily driven and I am looking to make around 300-350 HP (260-300 WHP) once all mods are in place. I figured replacing the turbo first would keep the car more reliable since the stock one car fail if over speed or detination happens.

I guess I could go with a T3/T4 with an internal wastegate. They are kinda rare since most people go with larger external wastegates. I would guess a T04E compressor with aleast a 50 trim and a .68 exhaust with a stage III wheel would do the trick.

Stock turbo should be able to support that sort of power reliably, no probs. Problems start when people start winding in too much boost, esp with the stock cooler, as it has a pretty huge pressure drop at higher rpm.

With a decent FMIC you shouldnt have any probs running 0.85bar boost(12.5psi), day in day out and easily be making around 270-280rwhp. Alot of guys on here run 1bar without dramas, but some do have dramas.

the stock turbo is not too bad for what it is.

If you are only chasing 260-300rwhp, why upgrade, really not necessary. If you want a bit more, have a look at BOOSTDs post on upgrade comp wheel and using a VG30 housing - I am sure they wouldnt be hard to find in US.

Just some ideas anyways. But seriously with the hp you are chasing you wont need to upgrade the turbo.

I think Jap turbos are some of the best quality turbos out there. They make really good power for there size. They just don't hve the same bang for buck that the old school American turbos have. You can pickup a T3/T4 turbo for around 550 new. Most HKS, Apex turbos start at over 1K and go up from there.

As for the VG30 turbo there was never any VG30DET powered cars in the US. Unless you are talking about the VG30ET from the older 300zx's. The only other turbo VG we got was the twin turbo 300zx. But from what you have said I think my money would be better invested in a good FMIC.

Well fo comparison, my Stock turboed R33 is making 183rwks which equates to 245whp. Now in USA ur Dyno Jet dynos read about 10-15% higher then ours so really for u that is 255-260whp.

When i install a FMIC and some other add ons (ECU and cam gear), i should hit +200rwks, ie 270whp here or around 300rwhp where u r.

So what im gettin at is that the Stock turbo will be fine for what u are wanting.

Have a look at the thread BOOSTD posted about his $350 260rwkw turbo.

    • So....to find any R chassis part number, get your VIN (will be something like ER33-xxxxxx for you) and go to: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan and enter it. From there you have access to a web version of Nissan's part system, FAST. It is a bit tricky to get used to, so maybe have a shot and post up what you think.  You can also search by general model but note in some cases your car might have different options so VIN is safest.  On diagram 211 I got 14075-75T16 for Connector, Water Hose If I search for part 14053‑21U10 that you posted, that is also a water hose but not the one bolted to the plenum and 14075‑04U00 is the fitting where the water hose goes into the block.
    • Yeah now we are talking I much prefer coolers in the front middle because it lessens the chance of a small bump to a corner stopping the whole event. I was thinking the AT cooler can move out of the radiator, delete the AT/engine coolant interwarmer and mount a separate cooler with a thermoswitch somewhere further back as is common in racing, that would be one thing. Beyond that, the engine oil cooler is an obvious one to move to the wheel arch, potentially one on each side, but unused space is an issue. I did have a earlier pic with the bumper off but it doesn't show how busy the corners are: DS is full of the auto driving sensors and PS is totally fully of windscreen washer fluid reservoir But ultimately I was hoping to keep the AC, and the water/air heat exchanger is fundamental so it is not just the radiator that needs to be in front BTW here's airflow to the rad as it ran at the track (one horn is gone now and I'll remove the lights next time):
    • your right the maps for Australia came out in 2017 but are 2010 maps. i got the updated maps SD card put it in and it was the same. Same maps in my Brothers Nissan Patrol. 2020 i think his car is
    • Yeahhhh, the costs have killed me. Spent more than the cost of an engine rebuild and it most mostly servicing and a tune lol.
