Ok Now correct me if i'm wrong but its perfectly ok for People with crappy commie's etc (no offence to the decnet ones out there u get my respect) are allowed to bolt on HSV or wot eva MOD's and its perfectly all ok and no defect shall be issued....

Now i know this shit is expensive BUT if we all had NISMO parts on our cars then is that all ok and shall we be let off and get away with it all?

I just wanna know that cos i mean it maybe worth buying SOME NISMO parts or trying to afford it so the police stay off our backs!

I would think is more to do with ADR's then brand name.

I think the problem could be some Japanese parts don't meet ADR's , but HSV parts are designed around ADR's so there are no issues.

I may be wrong , but this is my thoughts on the issue.

If this is true then you would be better off buying Aussie parts (eg Whiteline suspension) where possible.

Well HSV is a car manufacturer. It's not like they are just a tuning shop. HSV is a HSV - its not a holden with mods. As far as i know, Holden aren't even associated with HSV.

So that means HSV would have to comply with whatever guidelines are in place to car manufacturers when building cars. They would have to get approval before being able to release it etc.

I get your point MadGT4, but you really can't compare a HSV to someone's import they have modded themselves (or even at a tuning shop for that matter).

Maybe if Nissan released actual NISMO tuned cars that you could buy from Nissan Australia, that would be a comparison.

I don't wanna start a whole new thread here, but you can't say that a HSV isn't a Holden with just mods. It is a holden till HSV get it then mod the F*k out of it to suit their own purpose. HSV dont manufacture the whole car as well....I do agree that they are a separate company though

But the whole modifying thing can be justified as they are complying to guidelines...

That's my view anyway. I'm don't necessarily agree that they should be able to do it and tuning shops not. But based on the first post asking if imports should be able to escape defects by using official NISMO parts - that's not really the point. The point is the way it's carried out. Ofiicial modifed cars by actual car companies as opposed to self modified cars with official parts.

Yes you are - a Holden Special Vehicle. :D Agree with u on the modified parts too.

Someone should open a shop here in Adelaide that would mod your car with compliance.....

I agree with Rob, it is to do with the fact that these things are designed to meet ADRs, and the cops know it, rather than your modded import, which MAY WELL meet the regulations, but they assume they don't until you can prove otherwise.

It's like those CAPA blowers and the like - massive performance increases, but the kits are designed to meet Australian emission specs, so the cops don't tend to look at them too hard.

CSV may have been a better example than HSV for the other guys too, cos they are both a car manufacturer and a "tuning shop". They will build you a car, or do yours, but they have to ensure everything meets those lovely design specs again.

I'm not sure to what lengths you can go to getting your modified import certified as meeting all specs, and it would probably be costly, but it could be worth a look, then at least you would know what you were driving was legal, and could have some evidence to back it up - knowing that if they were a prick and defected you anyway, that you could simply get it easily removed with a trip to the RTA.

To be quite honest I think it will make bugger all difference.

Whatsisname got told to take his momo steering wheel off and they are ADR compliant - this was at a VIS.

the costs to get a car engineer certified for compliance here is astronomical here, starts at $1500 before any emissions tests, in NSW it is only a few hundred dollars and they have free emissions testing - about time these anal retentive pricks sorted their shit and started realising that people are going to mod cars,and if they make it impossible to get the mods approved, people are just going to drive in cars that arent approved

Sort of defeats the purpose of having the rules there when they make it almost impossible for the average person to meet the requirements.

I think the only way to get these pricks off our backs is to have a mass park in on king william street during peak hour - couple of hundred modded cars refusing to move cos they are sick of the apparent discriminatory treatment;)

Yar, as said earlier it comes down to ADR. If it doesn't meet ADR then don't bother it's as simple as that. Sad but true! All these companies build these cars to comply to these standards which is such a wank when you look at things like the new Ford GT with 290kw stock. Thats more powerfull than a lot of modded GTS-T's etc. that I know of and there doesn't seem to be a problem there. It doesn't matter what car your driving the way I see it, ADR or no ADR power is power! It's such Bull Sh#t! :P

      Need to see other side of PCB in that area...ie; I don't see any thru-hole mounting, just soldered vias (smd zeners in SOT23 have 3 legs but only 2 are used, as reflected by PCB tracks)

      4 to 5 is fine. It will be slow, but that's better than blowing turbos. I don't have a PS pump idle up solenoid on my car, because... I think when we put the Neo in we retained my R32 lines. But.... From inspecton of the R34 vacuum hose diagram, you can see that the solenoid needs to be connected to the turbo inlet as source of clean air) and the plenum (as source of vacuum - which is the place for the air to flow to to cause the idle to increase). So 3 to 1 is VERY WRONG. 3 should go to either the turbo inlet, or the plenum. Follow the other hose from the PS solenoid and if it goes to the plenum, then your 3 goes to 2 2 would also serve as a bleed port for a boost solenoid.

      Yes it is. ZD1 is on the other side of the board. Where ZD1 is marked is clearly opposite a 2 pin device. Our 3 pin device here is not a ZD.

      Alright, a little update on this... I called Fulcrum, who used to be the distributor in Australia. No Bueno, they don't service them anymore.  Called shock works, who don't service them but offered to dyno the shocks for performance, and suggested DNA in Sydney might service them.  Called DNA, who also do not service them and basically said they try to steer customers away from tein for this exact reason these days- there is just no support for them anymore apparently.  Both SW and DNA said they are a not necessarily a bad product, but they just don't service the brand or know anyone who does service the brand anymore.  So... I could keep calling around but at this point I think I'll probably just spring for the shockworks product, unless anyone here knows anything.  Cheers 🍻
