Have been searching for head tensions and tappet clearances to suit an rb25det NEO (R34) engine. Local Nissan coudn't even tell me. Are head tensions the same for all RB engines and are tappet clearances the same as GTR? Want to get head back on this weekend. Help please!!!!

Head tension will be the same or within a couple of NM of the earlier models. There was no advancements in gasket technology applied to the NEO so do them in a circular motion starting from the centre top, then centre bottom, then left of centre bottom, left of centre top, right of centre top, right of centre bottom etc. sequence of 40, 60, 80 and then 100nm. Once done, crack each one loose one at a time and retorque back to 100nm. So loosen, retorque, go to next one in circular motion etc.

As for clearances for tappets, you will need to speak to a cylinder head reconditioner that specialises in RB engines. Try Chilton Engineering...he may point you to Marty White/John White

hey man, for an R34 RB25DET NEO motor, the valve clearances are:

Hot engine

Intake: 0.36 +/- 0.062 (mm)

Exhaust: 0.53 +/- 0.062 (mm)

Cold engine (at ambient temperature)

Intake: 0.31 +/- 0.04 (mm)

Exhaust 0.50 +/- 0.04 (mm)

Hope this helps. let me know if you need anything else.
