Hi Guys,

I've been reading these forums quite alot since I was first considering buying a Stagea and have found alot of the detail on this site extremely helpfull.

I did end up buying one and must say it's been alot fun so far. That was until about a day after I has some work done at the Goldcoast, adding to some existing mods an apexi power fc and a set of HKS GT-SS turbos running on 1 bar. The issue I found last Saturday was the intercooler hose got shot out and I dont want to get it towed to a shop to do something I should be able to handle.

I've had a look at a few of the DIY's though the 260RS front bar is slightly different and hence havn't been able to get the front bar off in fear of breaking something, needing to re attach and tighten the clamp on the hose.

If anyone has removed one of these, I just wanted to check does the front bar top and bottom sections come out as a whole piece OR should this unclip from the bottom of the front bar somehow? Just wasn't sure as I cant get my spanner into the inside bolts for the headlights as the top of the front bar is in the way and I dont have a socket set.

Any help is appreciated, my fallback is calling a mobile mechanic and paying them to take care of it which quite frankly doesn't sound so bad right about now.

umm, from memory... centre grill comes out by itself.

take off the underbody guard strip

pretty much you've got to find 10 or so screws underneath ..... torch, jack and some elbow room would be handy.

just takes time to get them all undone. as you go along you'll be ok.

good luck.

perhaps make sure all intercooler pipes are lipped at the ends to ensure it doesnt happen again? also, $10 clamps are a must!!! :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I ended up getting it off after work today. It took me 3 hours though If I had to do it again I think it could be done alot faster.

The top section of the car which I was asking about previously, turned out it was fastened to the centre bar piece with double sided tape that had bonded quite tight and after some carefull pulling I managed to get it all out.

The intercooler already has a raised lip and I got some high quality bolt type clamps from Queensland Diesel Supplies which worked a treat.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
