hey guys,

i just got a blitz canister mufflers,[$30] its 3inch inlet and 4inch outlet. if i just use the muffler and 2 and 1\4 size pipe from cat. would it work? would i lose power by sticking on that muffler to the standard pipping?

i got a cannon on right now but it to bloody loud. and to quiet if the silnicer is on and with it on it make that rattle noise at 2.5rpm

thanks guys

p.s... on the bottom of the muffler it got the jazma badge on it, if that helps

the rattle/rasp at the 3k range is common in N/A Skylines.

Replacing the mid muffler with straight pipe will make the exhaust louder.

Jasma approved means it meets the japanese standards.

If it's 3 Inch inlet, your local exhaust shop will need to downsize that pipe.

I really don't think you're going to notice much difference if any.

If you want to get the most out of your exhaust system, get them to make up a 2.5" catback system with the straight through rear muffler, and use a high flowing mid-muffler or resonator to keep it quiet.

Good luck getting rid of the noise at 3k revs though.

That cannon is doing you absolutely no favours in getting rid of the rasp.

Invest in a good brand name cat back and watch the rasp disappear.

I too had the rasp. Slapped on a 3" NISMO cat back.. and goneski

And in terms of your question. Nope. You will not loose power. But you wont gain anything either. I very much doubt you will see any change. Its only a very minor modification

just recorded a short clip of my n.a reving.

trying to upload it on youtube but it bloody taking ages. im caps aswell

gonna try photobucket

any faster way to upload on to this site?

im still not happy with it tho.

been playing with my timing, giving it a little tap anti clockwise.

whenever i advance it, the rasp/rattle get more clearer and louder.but only when the engine is cold and it go for around 1 minute or 2.

when its on 15drgree its all good.

so when the timing is retarded it fine. meh as long as the timing is good and no sound im happy but could fix it better dont you think?

i think its the cam thing like everyone been saying.

should i just leave it? its all good on 15drgree. that the right timing yeah?

THAT SOUNDS FUGN TUFF!

My exhaust has copped so much damage (hole in headers, crushed resonator box and I think there may be another leak somewhere) what when it starts up it almost sounds like a straight through exhaust. Once the engine is warm it gets is RB rumble and just sounds awesome!

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
