Ok after searching and having a basic idea of what to and what not to get i would like some definite answers to my questions.

Basically my car will be used for mainly street purposes but i would like to begin attending track days say 5 times a year or so.

And the reason i'm getting new rotors is because my stock ones are done i.e. below minimal thickness.

1. I got plenty of meat in my pads but need new rotors so is it a waste to get slotted rotors and not upgrade the pads well? i intend to get the qfm a1rm pads any reason that i shouldn't?

2. I'm trying to deciding between the RDA slotted rotors from the group buy and the project mu src (not the 2 piece) i know they are priced alot differently but i've read that the RDA's can't handle track days whilst the project mu will handle track days better. So if the RDA's are proven not to be able to handle track day i will be willing to pay extra to go the project mu's

3. Where can i get project mu rotors apart from nengun(i'm in sydney btw)?

4. I'm assuming it would be safe to run slotted rotors at the front and just leaving the rears stock?

thanks for answering my questions. Your help is much appreciated!

Benny

I'm in a similar boat to you. I have already purchased Project mu type NS pads because i heard they were good and am now tossing up on which rotors to buy.

The project mu rotors are at least $590 a pair which is a huge difference between them and rda.

Here's the link to the distributors CLICKY CLICKY

or even check Mus scret but im not sure if they are in sydney

If you intend on doing 5 track days a year (same as what i do), you will need some better brake fluid too. Otherwise you will boil your brake fluid after each hot lap session at the track. I strongly recommend some MOTUL RBF 600. its cheap at around $30 a bottle.

Running slotted discs on the front and standard rears will be fine, as the front brakes take a good pounding at the track.

Also bear in mind that some types of Track Orientated pads will be a bit noisy on the street, squealing and squeaking when coming to a stop. This can drive some people slightly crazy, but others dont seem to mind it.

Good luck and enjoy.

The RDA slotted are great. I run them on the front only and they are just fine. No extra wear so far, and fight fade well. Why spend so much on Project MUs? Oh and yes definately change to Motul RBF600. Well worth it. A brake master cylinder stopper helps too (at least for the feel of the pedal).

I am running stock pads and they are fine on my GTT even on the track.

i had some racebrakes rb74 pads on my gtst and they were great... had 267rwkw. i had dba 4000 series rotors and no dramas... i didnt do any track work.. but my car went up and down the putty rd at least once a month.

I have the RB74 pads on my R33 too, awesome pads for street and track, always pull up. The rear ones are super noisy around town, so i put stock pads in the rear while driving around town. I tried so many different pads in the rear of my car, all were super noisy but stock ones (long story HAHAH). Brake master cylinder stopper is a cheap and easy way to improve pedal feel.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
