You know it. Fun fun fun.

Crisis averted. Brisbane didn't flood

Just bits of it did.

needs moar floods

so sick of false promises :D

Thats what she said

nah money is a bit tight at the mo... have to wait until tax time

Yeah bring on tax time. Can't wait to get some money back this time instead of an epic bill :)

P.S. Morning mangs

yeah boi

thanks :) just let me know whenever is good for you. I need to take it from Stafford to Aspley. I have ratchet straps if needed

annnnnnnd - opinions on this? Would it be a good enough temporary solution/trouble shooter to make sure I'm holding boost ok? I really don't want to pay much for one because I just want it for a couple of comparisons. So basically... I don't need it to live very long, just need it to be somewhat accurate.

I has a mechanical boost guage in the ute if you want to borrow it for a bit. I need it back to put on the mower at some stage but :)

This afternoon works fine for me. What time are you thinking?

Would take you up on the offer if I knew how long I was going to be tooling around with it, don't want to wind up taking it out of the ute then not using it for 5 months and giving it back and needing it 2 months later lol. I want to get one so I can install it and test my boost for now. But down the track when I get my front mount I want to get the boost wound up a bit too, and just want it in there to check it holds boost alright after driving it around a bit. Also want to see what happens after I let Dan turn my blow off valve into a flutter valve, and (before Dan plays with it) compare it with my other blow off valve(Thanks again Ravi!!) to see if one builds boost faster... it seems to.

I should be home sometime around 4-4:30 ish. Assuming my housemate hasn't crimmed the XF, any time after that.

Furry Muff.

In that case, I'm sure that one you posted will be fine. It looks to be similar to the saber/autogauge ones, so Tas will give you sh*t because they aren't defi, but Tas is a brand wh*re. They should be reasonably accurate and will do the job.

As I said when you were here, just blank the f**ker off. If it f**ks your turbo, then you've got an excuse to upgrade :)

I've got a custom blanking plate made from quality billet steel with a high-temp ceramic coating you can use for a bit if you want. See the pics. Had it on mine for a while but got over it hahaha.

Well, just gimme a call or whatever and let me know the plan of attack

I don't like the Defi ones anyway. I think they're ricer and are made with 7% synthetics and 93% gay. So he can give me shit about NOT putting rice on my car, I don't mind :)

And as I said. That's all well and good if you can afford to buy a new turbo when it shits itself :ninja: (plus I haven't the faintest idea how to change the thing, so I'd have to pay for that too)

Yeah true, I can't say I have money to do it either. But putting a direct replacement on looks pretty easy, I've seen all the tutorials and a friend has explained it for me and yeah, pretty easy.

But flutters = epic. Nuff said.

Having said that, best option is to not f**k the original one anyway hahahahaha you're right.

It won't wreck your turbo.

Changing turbos is easy

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
