martin leech your own players! he's mine!

So i took the brumby to work today, checked it over on the hoist. Looks like im making a new exhaust sytem for natalie! also replacing tie rods and rod ends, and bushes, and seals, and trying to fix the stupid amount of movement in the shifter.

What is a brumby rated at carrying ? It's not a 1 ton is it ?

Slop in the shifter is from 2 things. THe split pin through the shifter into the linkage wears, as does the bottom bush that sits in the gearbox housing that the shifter sits in.

yer scott i can flex that roll pin that goes onto the selector shaft, i was goin to replace that, can you still get them genuine? haha can still get front shocks for them, $150 a corner, everywhere else is wanting about $550 a pair trade cost. As for the exhaust i'll make one up during the week and fit it up when i get back. Really could do with a tune up, also replacing the filters and fluids.

Whats a good gearbox oil to use?

You should be able to get a roll pin new still. NOS or something.

Any hypoid type gearoil is what's in order with those boxes. Depends on how fast you want to shift I guess....

Yes! that is awesome port! I need to get me more of that.

Cheers for the advice, i'll just roll with some of the 75W-90 Penrite i got here, doubt the oil has been done in a long time, probably low with the amount of oil everywhere around it

    • Oh right, I didn't realise it was your car. Please do! Makes me feel better about mine. I also have a big scrape on the front left bumper where someone presumably used the wall to guide the car into a parking spot  But somehow all the funds go towards mechanical things and the cosmetics stay forever unfinished... Interesting, I don't think I have seen it before. But after seeing @PranK's rusty roofline on the BMW I'd probably leave it alone. Wouldn't want water to get in there.
    • Thanks mate, thought you might know the answer.
    • Infiniti US are teasing a manual Q50 as a way to refresh a (very old) model. https://torquecafe.com/manual-performance-sedans-arent-dead-yet/ Can't be too technically difficult given the Z has the same motor with a manual gearbox......here's hoping there is a JDM version we can import here, that would save me a world of headaches
    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?
