Nissan is 114.3

the only one you will be able to manage is the last option, and it will almost certainly have to be custom.

The only way you can change from 4 to 5 is to keep the PCD the same (e.g. 4x114.3 to 5x114.3, which I think you can get without going custom).

If you want to change the PCD, you need to keep the number of studs the same.

Sonofabitch... so I'd need one of these http://www.vollks.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=192_210&products_id=3149 to change the number of studs, then another adapter to go from 5 x 130 to 5 x 114.3 ?

...SD spec spacer thickness by the time it's done :(

Also dodgy as f*ck...

Guy on the 31 club did it, 4-5 stud converters and then 5x114.3 to 5x120 or something. So not cool. Funniest thing is he bought the wheels brand new, and they were available in a perfect offset and stud pattern so that he wouldn't have needed ANY spacers. He just ordered completely the wrong thing. :P

nah, if your talking VW which it seems. go see Sherman conversions on the gold coast, he can sort you out with any stud pattern you like, drilled off fresh rotors or drums (not so sure on the drums)

this way you can avoid pushing your offset out further than it already is (which in a beetle is already way to far standard :angry:)

my brothers Bug has a set of commo pursuities on it.....:whistling: but he got his as a kit from the states, all wheel disk brakes and all that shiney new car jazz, in the stud pattern of his choice.

Porsche is also more expensive, as the studs are apparently entirely different to any other car and cost a small fortune.

Ooooo, now this sounds promising. So does that mean I can get away without a hub conversion? I'd like to put newer VW rims on an older one, so getting it to 5x100 would be the one I'm most keen on.

Have been looking at drop spindles, but they look pretty costly :(

as for the Beetle 5-4 stud, not sure how that goes for just swapping rotors. normally this is only a by-product of upgrading your brakes on an old one. and all disc brake bugs are 4 stud. so discs are def the way to go as it will prob only cost a little more, Sherman will be able to help you either way. give him a call, he'll be able to sort you out.

I need drop spindles for the Alfa. Also expensive :(

My brother has his old alfa sitting around.....been ignored since he did the head gasket in it (again) and got the liner. not sure what it is, ill ask him

Been perusing Vollks for the past few days. Some cool stuff there! Already looking at interior bits and pieces, because I bet that will be needed.

Pretty much set on a super, as I think I've hooked myself on that blower idea :wub: so discs will already be the go on the front. Just want more choice for wheels.

ewwww super :sick:, but yay for discs. yeah man, with the super you should just be able to get new rotors and drums drilled to suit whatever you like.

supers also have coilovers on the front, not this silly torsion bar nonsense. which costs alot more to lower and fiddle with.

There's nothing wrong with supers! Especially when you want to modify a bug but don't want to hurt an older one :)

    • In other important race car news, instead of fixing the race car I changed the crank seals on the chainsaw, because wood burner Some damn tight (and lock tighted) m6 head bolts Who knew plastic crank cases were a thing! Quick tip, don't trust the youtube videos that say you can pull the old seals out with the head on in a husky 440e...not true, their crank seal tucks in behind the cover both sides. I'm not sure I'm a psychopath, but these things are damn loud....hope I can put all the bits back in the right place    Happily, it is now back to turning fallen trees into a combination of firewood logs and wood chips....just need a clear day to get into it properly

    • Don't forget to make sure the tank is full to the brim before you try to replace the fuel pump too, that is an essential step.
    • No, 260RS/4wd stagea is 33 GTR/GTS4 double wishbone all round, not struts. The 2wd cars are confusingly strut front. At there rear there is one balljoint at the outer end of the lower control arm. If you have HICAS (my Stagea doesn't, but I think 260RS did, there will be a balljoint of sorts where the HICAS arm attaches to the rear of the hub At the front, there are ball joints either end of the lower control arm, plus the tie rod end for the steering arm
    • So, 2 months later, I just couldn't see any way to be happy with that tank setup. Basically the baffle area is too big and too leaky, the sender was miles off and the no low fuel light thing really bugs me. Other than the fact the fuel hat could safely supply enough power to the pump, it was worse than factory. Biggest thing that bugged me is it would still run out of fuel in medium-high g corners from about 1/4 tank down which is annoying when you are trying to have a zoom, not to mention potentially engine killing if it gets just the right amount of lean-ness....and we've got a few of those corners in our round trip to town (well, bunnings...) So, credit to Frenchy's, they have put together a much better designed setup with what is effectively an in tank surge setup.   As it happens the actual hat is the same, so I switched the fittings across, re-used the single 525 pump, and added a spare pierburg lift pump that I had (must remember to replace that stock, it was a spare for the race car). The only real work to get it all done was to add a second power and earth to the hat which I did by going from a single output to double output relay (very low draw on the lift pump) and also the sender unit that clips into the factory pump holder was again way too loose (so I re-used the 2mm shims from the previous setup). Finally, I added the low fuel light sender from the factory cradle. So....I'll report back how it handles low fuel, and if the sender has any relation to actual fuel level in the tank....
