Wow, this has been entertaining :D I miss much. ;)

That is a good point you make, I just don't want to see the fans go away in this time when the sport needs all the financial backing it can get from both spectators and sponsors. I fear if they ban the team, the team could possibly lose sponsorship and have it threaten their existence..... we will wait and see....

True. F1 survives on its sponsorship. Regardless of the size and popularity of F1 it needs the money rolling in to sustain it. I can't even imagine what solutions the management of this will come up with. The economics would be huge ... perhaps simple fines rather than ban?

im not the biggest fan of hamilton but i feel bad for him being caught up in all of this (if he is indeed innocent), not the ideal start to a F1 career. if its a fine they place on em, it has to be somewhere that will actually penalize the team, not just be written off as expenses on the end of year budget

he has already won a championship in his rookie season

what more do people want off him

they should just make them run on Wanli's next round, thats a punishment

hahaha would love to see then on that

things have seemingly calmed down in here by the looks of the last page.......probably a good thing I showed up late

Everyone, quick, look busy!

meh

havent seen a real race champion since Mick Doohan ;)

F1 needs M.Doohan to get behind the wheel

I'm glad you said Doohan and not Rossi

*sigh*...........

let me help you out a little with some advice, adding "ROFLMAO", "hahahahaha" & "LOL" dont help you achieve anything, they just add to your ongoing stupidity. once again you have kept responding, after you said you wouldnt. I almost pity you, your a mature aged man and your this pathetic...... kinda sad :s

Again Rhys ROFLMAO.... still can't answer my question..... Should I start calling you a liar too like you called me...? Now run along and go troll elsewhere.....

@Krishy - Lewis didn't win a championship in his rookie year LOL! He got handed it in his second year by a Toyota driver in Brazil!

you stubborn old man, this thread had finally got back on track, mods had given it the a-ok, f1 discussion had begun and a new page with no rubbish on it yet your ego forced you to drag it down the drain again. so you 1) said you would not respond to me 2 times yet have proceeded too a number of times (pathetic old man ego) 2) appologised to other users for the ramblings yet continue to do so...... >ROFLMAOLOLO!11!11!11!< (if i do that at the end of the sentance does that make me as "intellectual" you?)

ohh my bad forgot that it was in his second year....as kimi won it in his rookie year

on another note...common boys....get along with it...FFS F1 DISCUSSIONS ONLY

well, this should be interesting now then!lol maybe they figure if they take it on the chin the penalty will be lighter as its saving time and hassle for those handing down the deccision? does anyone have any previous examples of penalties?

previously i think they just hit them in the pocket etc....but i have also heard of where both the team cars start right at the back...if that happens then its very bad for Kovalienen as he hasnt done anything wrong....but then again its the Team that choose to lie not the individual...

should be interesting as to what happens though....i think that hamilton should be made to start the race from the back for the next 3 rounds....that should be enough for me :P

yeah seems a little unfair if they choose to punish the drivers rather than those from the team who lied. they will probably have some championship points stripped.

i think that mclaren might loose their constructors points and lewis might be loosing some points....also maybe starting from the rear of the grid for the next round and also some $$$

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
