Hey everyone i have an r32 non turbo gts and for the past month i have been thinking do i want to keep it or do i want to sell it. If i keep it a want to put an r32 gtr rb26 twin turbo into it but not sure how much it would cost so im just wondering does anyone have any idea of how much it would cost to put an rb26 twin turbo engine into a r32 gts non turbo including everything that will need to be done eg. gearbox exhaust clutch etc. ?

Thanks for your help.

i know it wont be the same as a gtr and it wont be awd thats not what im looking for i have recently put a new kit on it and sort of starting to fall in love with it again and dont dont to keep it or sell it so i said to myself if i kep it i will turn it into a project and put a rb26 in it.

I can hear the brakes crying already at the thought of this conversion... You will defenitley need much larger brakes. the suspension wont be right for the weight of the rb26 either.

Really, other then the fact that the chassis can support the engine, nothing else will be suitable and will need to be changed...

really not worthwhile unless you are super keen to get your hands dirty yourself. By the time you have gotten everything, paid someone to put it all in, found the 5-6 things that weren't right and bought the right ones, upgraded all the things that wont be up to pa (the brakes), decided you need a 5 stud conversion, etc etc. You will have been able to buy a turbo for 1/2 that and in 1/10th the amount of time. So yeah unless this is a process you want to experience.. don't :D.

and RB26 is just multiplying the problem more because you are talking about an engine that really wasn't designed for the application. An RB25 would be more sensible, but really.. just buy a gts-t. Enjoy that until something dies.. and then think about engine swaps imo.

At a rough guess. Paying someone to do it it, and get all the way up to the same car as a gts-t. 5K+?

Paying someone to put an RB25 in. 8K+?

Putting an RB26 in. Lots? :D

The worst problem you have is the gearbox. If you stick an RB25 in front of an RB20 gearbox it wont last long, but if you stick a hyped up RB26 in front of it, start praying :D

As the other guys have said, brakes, suspension, ecu, fuel pump, possibly drive shafts &/or diff, different intercooler, better clutch, & probably a few other things i havent thought of lol. I considered it myself, i reckon best option is an RB25 DET NEO. You can milk some decent power outta that beast & itll still be RWD, get an R33 box to put behind it too. Or the R34 unit, havent heard much about reliability or anything, but its the same as the R33 as far as ive heard, so bloody strong!!!

Keep me posted if you go ahead. That will give me some ideas to see if i wanna do it also.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
