I assumed that the day would begin at 5pm (followed the link in this thread, it said 5pm then realized that was for drift)

The Mallala website is useless.

This only information I could find was this flyer:

http://www.mallala.com/startyourengines/PTD%20Brochure.pdf

Which must be about something else as it is $495 per day, but says that the session starts at 8:30am.

So i guess I will call them tomorrow to get all the details, does it start at 8:30 or 5? and why isn't that information readily available on their website?

you'd think you could click on the event you were interested in on the website and it would give you details, or at least that the details would be SOMEWHERE on the site.

Jeez it's late.

Hi All,

Just called mallala, spoke to Pete, asked for some info, he said the session tomorrow starts at 8:30 but he was not sure about cost. I asked him if the prices on the website for 2008 were unchanged (i.e. $100 + $25 for the CAMS license for the day) He said that was probably what it would be.

We both agreed the website was useless.

Clem is the guy with all the info but he won't be there until lunch time, but tomorrow definitely starts at 8:30 am and the cost will be approximately $125.

Will post more info if I end up speaking to Clem later on.

Hope to see some other skylines out there, I'd hate to be representing on my own :P

Since it's an 8:30 start how about BP west Tce at 7:15, head out at 7:30. It takes roughly an hour to get there. If anyone is keen to meet up PM me and we'll exchange details.

The Caltex on Port Wakefield road, Bolivar is a good place to meet, last stop to fill up and get food, etc.

Please don't put Caltex in your car, go across the road to BP. My R32GTR with caltex fuel and 4000rpm = knocking at 82. BP fuel and 7000rpm = knocking at 20.

Ryan

Hey all,

I was out there today (someone had to represent). Was pleasantly surprised to find a few of our brethren there. RBWARE was there and so was BANNED, Plus another R32 GTR (silver one, forgot the dude's name). There was also one other 33 on the track besides me, Charcoal one with black wheels.

Was good fun, Stock brakes did alright, after 15 mins of hard use they gave up though but there were one hour intervals between runs so they had plenty of time to cool off between runs. They were fine again at the beginning of the next round.

I was sorely dissapoitned in my cheap ass tires. Pirelli's or Toyo's next time.

There was a good mixture of cars, some old school (Datsun 1600 running an FJ turbo, Old escort, old corolla, datsun 240z) some newer (our skylines, evo 7, evo 9) some brand spankers (350z, focus turbo, civic type r, evo 10). There was one R34 GTR track car but that didn't go on at the same time.

My exhaust looked brand new after that's how clean it was, apparently my car was shooting flames occasionally.

Some photos:

My exhaust is sooooooo clean!!

If you haven't been before I HIGHLY recommend it, brilliant fun and you don't have to worry about breaking anything, you don't have to go all out, my third run I took it easier but still had a good time. The safety rules make it hard to have an accident and even if you come off the track, you're only in the sand, no damage done. I'd liek to see more of us there next time.

Total cost was $125 for the track and a 1 day CAMS license, plus $50 bucks for a full tank of BP ultimate, I had a quarter of a tank left at the end of the day and I only did 4 out of the 6 rounds.

Good clean fun!

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
