Hi all. I'm on the hunt for a new front bar for my s1 r33. I currently have a top secret bar which is in need of replacing but the problem I experienced with this particular front bar is that it scrapes quite often. My car isn't lowered at all and it appears to be from the massive lip these bars have. Any recommendations for a front bar that looks the goods and is less likely to scrape?? Cheers.

have a look at www.carmate.com

im looking for a new kit aswell. i have the same as their T Style front bar, same problem as u... not too low, but still scrapes. im still gonna get a new 1 the same... i like it too much :P

I suggest you get the Do Luck kit...looks trick as...but if you want something simple and has a classic look, get the GTR Front Bar...

Hm I don't think I'd be doing the car justice by putting a gtr front, even though they look hot. The do luck isn't too bad. No scraping problems? JCaSs1001, be weary of carmate products. I've had friends who've been caught out by some of their products before

whatever you do, dont go the do luck if your worried about height, i recently installed a do luck and it came out far and sat low, i couldnt even get up my slight inclide drive, i switched to a 400R kit and havnt regretted it, its nice and practicle, sure it might scrape here and there but my car is lowered to so it can play that field to!

Dont touch carmate, quality is crap, fitment is way off got my from bar from them

As for kits the Do-Luck, 400R, Trust all sit low and on some driveways can scrape even with a car thats not lowered,

I got the TR Front bar, fitment was alright at the front apart from under drivers light there is a bad as gap...now my car was lowered like half an inch when coilovers were put in and cant get up a driveway with that bar...

MS Sports maybe

There is the JUN Kit, but preferably dont like it

Id go Do-Luck kit but thats just me

Is your GTR bar a rea lone or a copy designed to fit the r33 joey ? Is there decent urethane stuff out there ??

Gary

its a gtr bar for gtst in fibreglass....

the stock gtr bar can be made to fit, but you may need to pull your guards a lil

s1 style but opened up a bit more. if not there are a couple others on the site.

www.uniqueautosports.com

cant vouch for their quality though

my T style (like carmates) bar does scrap, especially when it was as low as i bought it... but as long as i turned on an angle it wouldnt touch...

thanx for the heads up about carmate.com ShyBoi!! ne 1seen the same bar in melbourne or another shop??? unique autos is pretty expensive by the looks of their site...

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
