I'm planning what to do with the In car entertainment in the M35. I have the standard Japanese DVD ROM in the upper glovebox but not the ETC box. I intend at this stage to use the factory screen but replace the CD player with a DVD, possibly, more dreaming/planning happening...

Question is, since I want to use the space currently occupied by the useless DVD ROM unit, can I dump it? I think I stumbled across something on the forum that said you lose the trip computer, mileage stuff or something if you ditch it, is that right? If I don'tneed that stuff and don't want GPS, can I dump it without issue or do I have to hide it away behind the dash or something?

Thanks

Yes, you will loose all the functionality of the trip computer and other functions.

There are no other inputs for the monitor if you take it out so the screen will be useless also.

It sounds like you have the Tv tuner also. You are better off buying the connector from Chris Rogers ($70) that gives you a RCA input. Then you can input whatever you want to the screen and still have the other functions.

I can show you some of how this works on the week end when I am in Cnaberra.

Hi, tuners coming soon. PM sent, thanks for the offer.

I did this setup from Chooks TV tuner and a cable from Chris Rogers. Basically each Headrest has it's own DVD unit in it. Both of them also have outputs so they play DVD's through the front, complete car or individually......both headrests with all the wiring cost me $310 delivered....then I had to by some RCA's, Chris Rogers cable which was about $70-$90(cannot remember)....and the TV unit from Chook....the whole lot was about $750. There is also a slot left to run another satnav or Ipod....+ the is the reverse camera setup.Pic below.

    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
