So who got defected?

Was a good day out and good to see some SAU ppl there.

hope no one got done at the defect station setup!
FANTASTIC day, was a great turnout despite the weather and plenty of great moments on track.

To the disgrace that is SAPOL, I have no words. People legitimately go to a track to use their cars, keeping it off the street yet they still find a reason to come and shit on it all. Thanks guys, glad you're keeping SA "safe"

sigh. thats just disgusting. no wonder people still act out on the streets, if theyre gonna get raped just as hard doing it the right way as you would doing it the wrong way, i can see why some people dont bother taking it to the track.

Must agree the event was awsome and so much for tyring to get along with the car community by setting up a "Driver Test Station", load of shit and nothing but revenue raising. Way to get along with the community sapol! MASSIVE FAIL!!! :(

oh god, here we go again, if your gonna take something defectable there, you gotta be prepared to get done, i drove my skyline to the track so many times and never got touched, i drove it down jetty rd one night and got defected, your as likely to get done at mallala as you are anywhere else.

although the drifting and all the other events that were going on were awsome, me and my mate made our own fun while nothing was going on.

where the cars were parking out in the paddock some douche p plater in a white commo with black stealies and a unpainted black front bar was showing off to his mates thinking he was some top shit grass drifter right next to a bunch of other cars.

only noticed afterwards that he has been drinking aswell.

IF YOUR ON HERE KID OR KNOW THE GUY, I PISSED ON YOUR DOORHANDLES YOU PRICK - VNR 110

if i had to shit, i would of crapped on it too.

bullshit, everything is defectable. so should people stop supporting south australian motorsport?

I agree, I've never been pulled over on my way too or from Mallala but have been pulled over to many times to remember around the metro area.

Well done to Leighton Fine knocking out his old car (Team CTS) in a lightly modified Silvia, Awesome skills :(

-1 to SAPOL.. its like taking candy from a baby for them.

sorry to luke, fabio etc who followed us the back way, that dirt rd was fair slippery, glad to see every one behind us made it out!

the traction control on the ss kept slowing us down and nearly sunk right in :(

but yes, top weekend out, got some good footage, will upload it when i workout how.

Well done to the Nisskid, probably the most talked about driver over the loud speaker, haha, i think Racin Jason has a thing for you :(

lol, hence the mural at the end, will be pics up soon, sneaky1 will pull through with the goods i hope.

car was great, came down to an experience thing, i had never drifted on track in the wet, and arrived late and only got one lap in the praccy at the start of the day, had no idea how a scando would react in the wet, so went for a handbrake entry in the top 32 like the guy i was following, i hadnt entered with the handbrake for ages, handbrake didnt lock up, just unbalanced the car and eventually the car just spun, which ended my day.

2nd run when i was leading i though f**k it, go for broke and nailed a run with a big scando, but no matter how much u outdrive someone in one battle, if u spun in the other one ur stuffed.

wasnt really worried bout you luke, 4wd ftw :(

Haha, that's nice, no one worries about me! :P

Big props to all the guys who actually competed, well done to you all, made for a great entertaining weekend!

yeah it was totally different today, guys like you and the other bloke with the red 32 4 door did real well yesterday, but the wet killed it. the guy in the red s1580 can drift!! was disappointed when he spun out after the S's, he was pissed too!

i actually didnt have any trouble once i started scandoing, the only trouble i had was the one run in the praccy where i tried to handbrake entry, didnt lock up, then spinning on corner 1, then doing a similar thing in the top 32 battle, the other 2 runs where i scando'd i nailed. if id had just one or 2 more prac sessions i would have been fine and realised that i could scando fairly well in the wet.

lol, so really the problem wasnt me not being able to skid in the wet, it was me not realising i could skid in the wet :(

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
