the shocks say KYB on front and rar but the springs i think are 5zigens. Bilsteins, such expensive but sweet ass suspention.

i was looking into getting ISC, HSD or Nismo.

how are the ISC for handling?

the KYBs are amazing, can take corners at 180 but its just the worst to be comfortable in.

hey guys,

just giving ya an update, well ive bought some kyb excel g front and rears shocks, the rears fit perfectly but today when me and my mate tried to put them on the front they didnt fit... there just slightly different, cause of the awd setup i assume, so now im in abit of a pickle, so all of you guys that have aftermarket shocks on the front of ur gts4's, could you please tell me the exact brand and model of ur shocks? lol, im so tired of messing with the car haha.

cheers guys, any help would be awesome

the actual shock is about an inch too long and cause of that the bumb stops dont fit and the screw thread on the end sticks up too far into the engine bay and the bonnet doesnt shut lol, basically lol. where ur's any special type of kyb shock?

I HAVE THE CAMERA!! :P

i wont need to take stupid phone pictures. What do you want me to take pictures of?

I can get under the car only fractionally as im buying new rims and have a 15" space saver with 3 17" rims everywhere else so its on a lean at the front.

Give me a heads up of what pics yours after?

well what i really wanted to know was just what brand and model ur front shocks are, they seem to be the ones causing all the trouble for me lol, cause i have some kyb excel g shocks right now that dont fit lol, i think there for a gtst tho, the backs fit but the front dont lol.

cheers mate

i don't get it the KYB website says its gts-t suspention R33, 2WD Turbo Coupe Incl. 4WS (Note: Rear Lower Eyering Mount Type) Excl. GTR

that 'Note: Rear Lower Eyering Mount Type' is for us because its suppose to be gts-t.

Stagea's have gts-t suspension........

I have pictures

P7010150.jpg

The only other thing i can do is try get behind the space saver and read for a logo on the other side. Its to dirty to see anything on the side i had to get pics of.

I had to take pictures of the dirty side of my car as i have a space saver on the other side because i destroyed my rim..... Getting new ones but :(

anyways i need to get the CV changed its covered in grease everywhere.

there aftermarket

Its the driver side that's really dirty and everything is covered in grease and dust over that because i haven't gotten the CV fixed. I cant get a good picture on the other side which is clean

I posted picture of my fronts before when i didn't have the space saver on. :)

Hey mate, Here's some info Sydneykid gave me when I was trying to find suspension for my old R33 GTS4.

"What you need is R33GTR front shocks and springs to handle the extra weight of the 4wd system and R33GTST rear shocks and springs to suite the mounting system. I have not seen a decent off the shelf spring and shock set (all 4) that is specifically designed for an R33GTS4

The Group Buy kit for the R33GTS4 has the front and rear Bilstein shock valving matched to the springs, bars and to each other. I spent quite a bit of time getting the items matched up. It is definitely a technically superior system. The ride/handling balance is very good, just a bit sporty but not at all harsh."

That was back in 2005, not sure if his Bilstein suspension kits are still available but send him a message and ask him or just if you need any more info about suspension he's a very helpful and knowledgable member here.

:) i didnt know.

It all makes sense now :D

Thats really annoying because there no way to get anything second hand without buying gts-t and then GTR stuff and your left with two sets of shocks ......

    • @Supernanoyour car has ended up in my hands and I was wondering if there has been any work done to the motor?
    • Sigh... yeah OEM mount rear battery, very R33, very demure, very mindful.
    • Would need a substantial current draw in the car to make a bunch of sparks. Obvs to now test resistance to ground of the car's B+ lead. If there's a short there, you'll see it. Only likely place for that, as you suspect is alternator. But there is also the possibility that rats have had a chew on some insulation. Shitbox has the battery in the boot, yeah? Plenty of cable to attack.
    • Oh, I thought of that too... I disconnected the battery and hooked up the leads direct to the car without the battery in place. Sparks... I suspect the following: Alternator has decided to kill itself Starter has decided to kill itself I'll recharge the battery, then unplug both, and go from there. The above might take 6 months - however I did buy a Victron 15 AMP trickle charger, apparently it's better than CTEK?
