See the other thread as linked above.

Your buying a car not a percentage of the business, concentrate on the car.

I'm not but, if a business is shit your not gonna go buy there products are ya?

anyways i will be going tomorrow looking at the car, checking out the common problems and getting a copy of the auction sheet which hopefully someone on the forum could do a quick translation on it.

Make sure the VIN on the sheet matches the VIN on the car.

Dont worry too much about a translation, just look at it yourself - Check the grade on the sheet (4 or 5 is good, anything else especially "R", just run..). Look for X's on the picture of the car (means replaced panels).

25 Australia street is the same mob as Allimports, and all those private for sale ads on carsales, jimmy and all other names he's known by.

ALso something I was told by a mechanic who was checking a private sale car out for me was that Japlink which are next door(same car lot but theres a fence seperating them) to the Allimports yard on Parramatta road, are not associated with each other, apparently the Allimports guys had a deal with the previous owner/s of Japlink and that the new owner of Japlink had to honour an existing deal with Allimports on sharing the lot and he also wouldn't comment on Allimports, just smiled and nooded his head when I mentioned them and the supra and rep they have.

If anyone knows otehrwise please don't shoot me down, just relaying something I was told by someone who appears and presumably is independent.

edit:also i recommend reading evolutionoz for another view.

It's a Nissan product not theirs..... As I said concentrate on the car, if the car is right the rest doesn't matter.

It's not like a new car when parts/service and warranty come into it. Just buy the "best" car you can for your dollar.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
