This whole crack down on emissions is complete and utter bulls**t. I mean seriously, at this point in time, what do cars in this country contribute to total emissions outputs as a whole? I could well imagine only a fraction of what big business (manufacturers, plants, mining, energy etc) would produce in a year. This is clearly another money grabbing exercise but it doesn't appear that govt. will benefit hugely for it. Fair enough they will probably be seeing a lot more requests for cars to be passed over the pits or re-registrations and fines etc, but it's the 2 companies in WA that have the IM240 test facilities that are going to be literally laughing all the way to the bank. I just sure as hell hope that if I ever get pulled over that the copper is in a good mood.........

I would not be too worried about the emmisions as if they are going to test cars it will be on a complience basis not on yellow stickers unless your blowing smoke or have a lot of carbon on your back bumper to show that your car needs to be checked... Lets face it if you have a $500 car and it will cost you $3000 to test it what will you do.... take the plates in for the rego go out to the bush thrash it and then burn it... well guess what is more polution... there will be a lot of issues on this matter before the police will enforce it.

Do you actually understand what that post you started means but going off comments like Fair enough they will probably be seeing a lot more requests for cars to be passed over the pits or re-registrations and fines etc, or I just sure as hell hope that if I ever get pulled over that the copper is in a good mood.........

"Vehicle owners who attempt to license their vehicle without approved test reports will be directed to the Vehicle Safety and Standards Section. The above policy will be closely monitored over a 12 month period and adjustments will be made to address any unforeseen difficulties."

Engine modifications may substantially affect emissions, particularly the addition of turbochargers and superchargers. Vehicles conversions from petrol and diesel to dual fuel, LPG or NG, or certain imported vehicles may also require testing in some cases."

If you want to build your post count up stick to the Spotted Thread as all this does is stir the pot with people who don't know what they are talking about or others who don't understand as it isn't usually explained properly.......... Any reason to get on the soap box seems to be another craze but this is nothing to worry about if the get the right guidance.
