Wondering if someone out there can help me out with a link or even better answer some questions i have of this car.

Looking at some pics of the interior i can see a Motec LCD Dash Logger.

Now this gets me thinking about the claims that this car uses a Power Fc & AFMs, i also noticed it has an AVC-R on its dash.

So anyone know if you can use the Motec LCD Dash Logger with any ECU, or for that matter other dash loggers like those by PI, Magneti Marelli, Stack etc etc?

Yeh those were the piccies i was looking at.

Id love to know if those dash loggers can be used with a range of ECUs. I have seen Stack clusters being used on cars in Japan with HKS Fcon V Pro ECU, but everytime i have seen the Motec dash logger it has been with a motec ECU.

Then again i recall Glen Seton and Larry Perkins use to use Autronic with PI dashes...still id like ot hear from anyone with experience with Motec and Apexi, whether the two systems can be used with one another... or is Apexi claiming accolades that perhaps belong to Motec?

Interesting, i know Keir Wilsons GTR runs both a power FC and a M800 motec unsure of its advantage but there must be one.

You would think the motec dash would only be used with the motec computer but maybe there is just a datalogger that uses the dash to display certain info for downloading.

Hi guys, you can pretty much use any data logger and/or dash board with any brand of ECU. We even have data logging on cars with carbies.

Generally speaking they have multiple analogue and digital inputs and you can plug any type of sensor into any input and log the data stream. The dash board merely interprets and displays selected data streams.

It is obviously easier to plug a Motec ECU into a Motec Dashboard/data logger using a Motec wiring harness. But we have Pi systems with Motec ECU's, Motec dashes with Autronic ECU's. We even have a Pi data logger with a Cdash and a Power FC.

Moving on to VMax, I can absolutely confirm it has a Power FC and uses 2 X Q45 (90 mm ) AFM's. It used that set up to run an 8.75 on slicks.

Hope that helps

Thanks for confirmong that. Spent most of last night reading thru old Racecar Engineering mags and picked up plenty about data acquisition.

Once i realised it was possible and failry common, one thing still didnt make sense. You have a car which is being used for drag racing where you have gone to stupid lengths to reduce weight.

Then as Sydneykid mentioned its much easier to use the data logger with a Motec ecu, but is is also several kg lighter. You can use the one wiring harness, reduce the amount of sensors, avoiding duplication... but i suppose its an Apexi demo car and it needed to use Apexi gear to showcase it.

So now only have to ask Santa for a PI or Motec dash for Xmas.

Im not looking at buying any really...only dreaming. That said i like understanding the theory behind some of this stuff, it would be great one day to get some practical experience.

I HAVE to stop spending money on my car, its going to be up for sale as soon as i find a sponsor to work OS.

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.

    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
