Well, here in the USA, getting a skyline is very difficult. Getting a street legal skyline is even more difficult, and very expensive. So I went the next best route...

SAU has been very helpful throughout my build(s) as information on the RB series engine is kinda limited over here.

I decided it's about time I make a thread dedicated to my projects.

First up is my 240sx convertible. I have had about 7 S chassis so far, and this one is without a doubt my favorite.

When I bought it, all it had was a stock RB20 swap and a sad excuse for a bodykit. withing 10 minutes of getting it to my house, all that was stripped.

One of the earliest pic's I have of it just after throwing the first s15 front end on it...

And molding on the rear overfenders...

The engine as it came in the car...

After 3 sets of fiberglass fenders, I gave up and threw on a set of stock s15 fenders. Nothing a big hammer and a saw couldn't make fit ;) And by fenders, I believe they would be called guards in Australia from what I've read on here. You'll have to forgive my wording as I'm in a different country.

I also decided to paint the car bayside blue. My first real paint job, so its not perfect, but much better than primer.

By this time, I had already done a bunch of stuff like 350z wheels, Sparco seats, etc...

Threw on a Kouki wing...

Because I could....

Got bored of the blue, so I threw on an Origin agressive kit and painted it metallic grey off the Lexus IS300...

c005.jpg

Also threw on a set of Eurolines...

c006.jpg

Picked up a set of Rotora brakes at a deal I couldn't pass up, but the Eurolines didn't quite clear. So I picked up a set of Volks. Horrible offset, but nothing a 2" spacer cant solve :P

For some reason, I thought I would go twin turbo on the RB20. Still have the parts, but not sure I'll ever go through with it..

turbos003.jpg

Got rid of the rear seats...

v003.jpg

Picked up a 6Boost manifold. The quality is outstanding...

I ended up going with a KKK k3T 3070MGA turbo. Also got my valvecovers powdercoated...

I hate the design of the factory intake manifold, so we cut the factory runners...

pandaexpress2001.jpg

Then we mocked up factory RB26 ITB's and intake pletnum...

pandaexpress001.jpg

Got the turbo side all ceramic and powder coated after we welded on the HKS 50mm wastegate flange...

pandaexpress007.jpg

Got some flanges cut and welded to the runners...

Did some porting...

With the ITB's on...

In the car...

How it sits now, just waiting for wiring and a tune...

pandaexpress4010.jpg

The car is FAR from perfect, but now I can go through and do the bodywork properly and build it the way it should be done. I'll update this thread as I make progress and post the results.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my work(s) in progress.

And project number 2.

I picked up an S14 shell that already had a full cage in it. Also has tubbed fenders and a few other things.

I wasn't going to do anything to this one until I got the S13 running again, but I found a full bodykit(Bmagic bumpers and sideskirts, as well as Origin front and rear overfenders) for $500USD, so I couldn't pass it up. It also just so happened to be the same exact color as my chassis, a green off of a 94 Honda del sol...

On the car...

This one won't get much attention until the s13 is done, but that shouldn't be too far from now.

    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
    • Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
    • You just need a different blue slip shop (preferably one you regularly use as a mechanic), and make sure the coil overs are as close as possible to standard height
    • yeah the sugar refining companies were pushing for the same in Oz originally, all fuels were going to have 10% ethanol to make them "cheaper" (noting, that the loss in l/100 might be greater than the decrease in price). I guess they won that fight in Canadia
