Hi guys, unfortunately i ran into some really bad luck, was driving towards taylors rd from east esplanade in st.albans, turning left coming up from under the bridge, saw bunch of cops thought "hey its prob just an RBT", when i got closer it turned out to be a vehicle inspection :P , too low, too loud, oil catch can with a breather? <LOL, need to remove boost controller, BOV and Pod. the car was under my brothers name rego'd in sydney, dont know if anyone else been in a similar position with interstate rego before? its my first time defected & dont know how it works down in melb.

Thread covering this issue: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Vi...se-t281568.html

General consensus, just rip off the sticker. Why would you get a RWC and report to Vicroads?

I also saw this defect station, too bad for the cops that my car is already defected. lol. :P

RB Powa: Your correct Vic Roads do check over everyhting in the inspection bay.

IOWNU: You would take it to Vicroads so they dont suspend your registration. They have to check over everything and make sure you have made the changes requested by Police. Pretty Cool you have a defected car already, wish I was that sick.

thanks for the info guys. this sucks never thought they could defect interstate cars, & didnt think they would have a vehicle inspection on the road, first time seeing this sh*t.

Never seen one of these on the road, but im scared.

So what do they actually check/how etc. Can you explain in detail please. Cheers.

no, they cannot defect you for the SAME thing.

however if say you were done for... stuffed headlight, ride height

and then a week later had bald tyres, you can cop one for that... and fair enough too IMO

Cops generally don't do this. They don't list all the defects even if they are obvious (in my case big turbo, blow off, cooler, pod). All they do is list few (in my case too low) and tick RWC required. RWC covers the lot, so no point in giving a 10 point defect list, waste of time.

So getting a defect on top of exisitng one makes no sense to me UNLESS, they fine you, or change the conditions of the defect ie, bring the car the cop shop for inspection.

VIC ROADS cannot suspend the rego of a car registered in NSW, might try reading previuos posts again.

They do pick a lot of things at times, the point of this is as you pointed out you have a big top mount and everything else, if they pick all of these things then vic roads will be checking EVERYTHING listed on the defect before they clear it, if they dont know that any of this stuff was on there previously then its easier to cover it up with smaller changes as vic roads wont be looking at those areas.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
