from my experience,

i got yellowd and work ordered, i had a 2.25" on a freekin lancer,

the cop pulled me over cos i turned my neons off,

he said my exhaust is too loud, and that my neons arent regulation ones...

my exhaust failed, blew 102decibals, i got a temporary silencer put in, ran over the pits and passed.

the pod filter isnt illegal, its only defectable if it isnt secured down to something, the wiring needs to be also secured, and in some kind of hosing, to get passed the wiring part i just ripped it all out (only neons and spotties anyways)

the only reason the spoiler would have any problems is if it does not have an eye level brake light, if you have one on the inside of your car your fine.

when i did get the sticker the license guy went through everything, i didnt get the RWC cos my rolling diameter was out by a shit load, (had 17s fitted to it, came with 13s).

What state? We don' have RWC's over here..

As far as I am aware it has not been passed yet.

Read the thread again.. the law has been in place for years, it was only recently that testing facilites became available. There is a lot of outrage but they can still make you do the test, there have been several people go through the process already.

GUYS, PLEASE! ENOUGH OF THE BULLSHIT ADVICE

May as well add my 2 cents. I got yellow stickered last noght at about 2 in the morning coming home from work, minding my own business some douche in a lexus sc400 tried to goad me into a race and generally being a dick. We both got pulled over by the cops and they tell me i was "hooning". I was cruising the speed limit doing nothing spectacular but got a yellow anyway because apparently my power steering is leaking. I know for a fact it isnt cause i just got the car back last week from tenagah making it all nice and legal and a few mods. Took the cop 20mins of searching over the car to find probably 3-4ml of oil that has just been spilled on one of the pipes. I had to explain to him that the blow off valve was plumbed back and the noise was from the enclosed air filter. Anyway wasnt very happy at all but had to bite my tongue yet again. Its things like this that makes me dislike the police sometimes.

The leaking power steering myth is a good one =] I apparently had that, only mine was water, from the rain that was wild that night.

Also, I went to get my second inspection yesterday and got a great inspector who spent the whole time teasing me about the IM240 (or something like that) emmisions test. Every time I mentioned anything, he'd just mutter it under his breath. Don't really see how Tien coilovers have anything to do with it?....

I took some photos of the front bumper where i think the officer was talking about my reo bar, after having a look i dont think that it is my reo bar at all that has been cut, but ill post them up in a bit, maybe if someone who knows what they are looking at could tell me how much trouble im in here?

As far as I am aware it has not been passed yet.

wWll your not very aware then because the law has been in for many years but has only been enforced since Kostecki engine centre got set up to do the testing in February this year

previously they never bothered because orbital was the only place that did it but it would take several months from booking in to actually get the test done

Yeah thats cool abdul it sounds like you've been f**ked around, so you were planning to take your car to the track?

I got my mum to take my car over the pits with a low cut top. She didn't pass first go.

lol still gotta get dyno tune and a licence before i go anywhere now.

So i just got back from the pits, the inspector laughed at everything the cop put on the list. Biggest waste of time and money. He put some new stuff on the list like torn boot in the steering rack, and my exhaust is less than 100mm to the ground, but other than that, nothing. Xenon's are legal, just need to make sure the ballasts are secure. Eyelids are definitely legal, inspector didnt even know where the cop pulled that one from. Spoiler is clearly legal, inspector like that claim by the cops. Gauges are legal as long as they arent in head space. Reinforcement bar is still intact, hasnt been touched. Clearly those 'expert' cops are so full of shit and just cost me time and money that couldve been spent elsewhere.

Another thing about those cops, did i mention they thought my HID ballasts were a NOS system? Forget if i did lol, but that just made me laugh haha

Unfortunately the inspector took both copies of my original yellow sticker paper work, so i cant lodge a complaint to the police.

Were they Midland cops? You could still make a complaint as everything should be on record (your rego number etc).

Well the cops that pulled me over and signed the paper work were Mundaring cops. The experts that actually decided what to sticker me for were Midland cops. I assume it would be the Mundaring cops that would have my details?

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
