Thinking of getting some new wheels for my '97 R33 GTS25T.

It's got stock wheels at the moment.

Give me some ideas of what rims I can put on and low profile tires etc. What sizes do I need? Can I put a slightly fatter tyre on the back?

I'm kinda not too knowledgeable about these things.

Don't want anything too blingy like with hubs that spin on their own or anything. :D

Where's good in Perth central or S of river to buy and get fitted?

I've got 18X8.5's front and 18x9.5's rear and with the coils being right down and lowered + spacers it sits right and doesnt run :D I'm not sure about the offsets of my wheels.

They are Starcorp Racing Rims - white 5spokes with a polished lip. Not sure which Starcorp's they are either....

Do I need to be lowered to run 18" rims?

nope, but might look 4wd spec :)

So what exactly is the deal? I mean the car is designed for 17" rims right? Does it matter what profile tires you use? Can u just stick on 18" (or 19") rims???

just do not go to tempe etc and get bling rims they look shit on skylines

Damn I saw this beat up mini-van outside work today with these shiny as hell 18" or 19" rims with dead low profile tires. Talk about lipstick on a pig. :) I assumed it was being driven by Hispanics. ;)

17's will look good..and tyres are cheap but I'd just put some 18's with low profile tyres, then maybe look into springs, talk to Brett at wilkinson..he'll do good price for lowered king springs :)

How does that work then, Springs and lowering?

I need coil-overs?

I get trade price at Wilkinson's FTW :)

Springs somewhere between $100 - $200 a pair, not sure on coilovers in Perth. Wilkinson do K-Sport, WA Suspensions for Tein. Certainly much cheaper from over East even after shipping unless you know someone and/or give good head.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
