hey guys, to cut a long story short i was done last week for something i didn't do but i'm unsure if i'm going to bother fighting it in court so i'm weighing up my options. Story is that i had 1point left on my license for things that i was stupid enough to do... Then last week they tried to tell me i was doing 107 in a 70 and they suspended my license on the spot and it was 5demerit points... Which means i'm minus 4 at the moment. I do get 3 points back towards the end of this month for an offence 2 years ago. So when i am eligible to get my license back i should be minus 1 point only. However i WAS able to get my full license on the 10.10.09 so what i want to know is do they give your demerit points back after your suspension? Because if they don't then how am i supposed to get my license back if i'm minus 1 point. Keep in mind i was supposed to get my fulls on the 10.10.09 and can i go for them after my 3 month suspension. I was an idiot on my red p's but i did curb my bad driving habits, funny how when you're being good that's when you get done lol

I'm a little confused but i think you're asking if you can stretch it out to get your ponts back before you get the next demerit points, or able to go for your full licence?

Some points to remember.

- Demerit points stay on your licence for 3yrs before they go back.

- You wont be able to go for your fulls untill any fines are paid/settled.

not sure if that answers your question.

Again, I suggest you seek legal advice.

ok haha obviously i didn't explain it properly. Basically i was on 1 point and lost 5 so currently i'm minus 4 points, but i get 3 back before i am due to get my license meaning i will be minus 1 point when i am allowed to get my license back. They obviously can't give me back my license so does this mean it will continue to be suspended until my other points come back onto my license?

Pretty sure that at the end of a suspension (due to loss of all points, not something like speeding on Ps) then you get all the points back.

And by pretty sure I mean, it happened to me... the final straw was no P plates :P

Had no license for 3 months, got it back, had all 6 points, got fulls, have all 12 points. Still have all 12 points to this day :(

Does the suspension extend the time you have to be on your P's though?

ie if you had it suspended for 3 months u have to be on your p's for 3 months longer then if you hadnt been suspended?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but with the new speeding laws, isnt 30-40 over automatic 3 month suspension...Then you have the automatic 3 month suspension for running out of points. So thats a total of 6 months suspended licence. Then you get your full P2 points back. Then you go for your full licence after waiting the week or so for the correct amount of time to pass between the time you got done, and the original 10/10/09 date. Also you cannot go for your full licence on the 10/10/09 if you are currently suspended.

That was the case when i got done on my p's and then ran out of points.

My best advice would be to look on the rta website but i'm sure the above is correct.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
