ok so i went to pick my car from the impound today and to my surprise the car was running. when the car was impounded before it went on the tow truck i put a 2000rpm limiter on the car through the handset removed the handset from the car unpluged the the microtech and x6 box and hid the wiring under the carpet also removed the battery isolaler switch and hid it in the boot. so my question was " how did you get the car runing" cops "we didnt touch it it came like this" at the end of the day what can i do. the cops are f**ked. but at lease they cleaned it

Man i totally agree! I had my car go to police impound years ago. Came back without a headunit. I had removed all other items so it was the only thing that was still in there.

Thats crazy they got your car running though!!! Complimentary free police tune maybe?

"Cops" only do the paperwork and confiscate the car. It is towed by tow companies and stored by private contractors. They detail the stuff about he car before it gets taken away an thats the last they ever see of it. Hrdly their fault. You might want to take it up with other people.

Except for the cars that are held in the actual police impound lots...

I was just going off his location of Northen Beaches.

Yes country imounds are different.

yeah, NFI how Sydney impounds work...

Wollongong has 2 impounds that I know of (One for each LAC) and they're both full... So now they take them to the owners house park it on the front lawn and wheel clamp them... Public humiliation...

The impound in which my vehicle was held in the police impound located in enfield. Its also the same place where the cops fit out their cars with sirens, radios etc. VERY police controlled but they do have civilian workers aswell. Its on the same lot as a vehicle auction place. Pickles maybe. Cant remember. I'd imagine one of the civilian workers pinched my headunit. I just find it unbelievable that it can happen in a police impound. But they are above the law.

About as far as police control went was the managers looking after the vehicle fitouts. As stated. The towing and storage of the cars is purely private sector. Police were there from 9-5 and then it is anyones guess. It was never police property.

    • I might do a few more high temp bed ins as described here.  I have a nice quiet 80kph road right near me.  How To Bed-In Your EBC Brakes For Street Or Track Use - EBC Brakes https://share.google/AjnOTILXoiqQnLu8p

    • Biggest thing is you're okay!   It sounds like between the accident, and the drive home, it was a pretty torturous trip again! On the bright side, you took the opportunity to enjoy the event more from the perspective of a spectator, than as an entrant!   Sad to see so much damage to the car. It really has taken a HUGE hit in the front end. If/when you choose to repair, hopefully the rails are straight (At least from shock tower backwards). Hopefully the extra cage coming through there has save most of the chassis rails, and HOPEFULLY saved the motor too. Best of luck when you eventually get motivated to start pulling it down to check it all out
    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
