Hi Gemma,

I'm thinking that if you leave Cross Roads at 11.30

> M5

> left onto Picton Rd towards Wollongong

> Princes Hwy but being careful of this 80Km/hr zone up Mt Ousley where there's often a hand-held cam pointing down from the truck stop

> down into Wollongong with its Speed Camera next to Uni

> continue along Princes Hwy past Buddhist temple, Dapto, Koonawarra and onto to large roundabout at the airport and...

> turn right (at the roundabout)(Illawarra Hwy) towards Albion Pk which is just a couple of Km

> turn right at the lights at Albion Pk onto Illawarra Hwy #48 and it's just a couple of Km to the Tullimbar Housing Estate (another roundabout)

I think a group of us will be waiting there at Tullimbar for the main convoy at say 1pm. 3 of us cars are coming up from Nowra.

There's a Shell servo with V-Power on the corner of Princes Hwy & Tongarra Rd at Albion Park Rail (not far from Albion Park).

There are only 2X overtaking sections up Mac Pass, and they are both quite a way up the escarpment.

So I'm just anticipating Gemma that perhaps those who have been extra keen to go up front, do so from Tullimbar.

The convoy from Tullimbah should go quite slow to create distance between the lead car and any traffic ahead.

There may be quite a deal of traffic anyway (unless one does a night drive or a 6am one).

I probably wouldn't stop at the base of the Pass lest the tyres get cool again.

If you guys want me to video/dvd the group going around a hairpin near the top where there's a large rock-face, I'm willing to go up a couple of minutes before the main group. But I don't mind at all what the group wants. The remainder of the dvd can be shot at the pie shop.

Does anyone wish to come back down the Mac Pass after lunch - or take Jamberoo Mtn Rd (opposite the pie shop) and turn left at Swamp Rd to Albion Pk? The latter route is interesting too. I'll let you Gemma make an Exec decision on that.

Safe travelling.

You of course Gemma can read the initial 'riot act' out to the main group at Cross Roads eh? Feel free to PM me. It's still your baby! :D

Terry your a star. Thanks for those directions, very clear:) sounds great. Will see you at meet point when we get there. I know my way there by memory but that isnt gonna help others in the group who may need to follow map directions if we get split:) Thanks.

Guys, i will print this out so we can have hard copies but please use this as THE guide for sunday.

So is the main meetup point at the Shell servo in Tullimbar at 1pm?

The main group Eugene is meeting at KFC* Crossroads-Casula at 11am, and leaving at 11.30 sharp.

Gemma ie Princess01 will address the group there.

Edit:- Sorry - It's KFC Carpark at the Mega Centre

silly me...

Can I ask what UHF Radio Channel you'll be using?

or KFC Homa maker center Crossroad casula near bunnings?

"Spanner in the Works"!

MACQUARIE PASS HAS BEEN CLOSED TODAY DUE TO SUBSIDENCE!

Alternative ie Plan 'B'

Subject to Gemma's Approval...

PAUSE AT ILLAWARRA HWY BETWEEN PRINCES HWY TURNOFF AND ALBION PK so all Tullimbar cars meet there instead...

> CONVOY CONTINUES STRAIGHT AHEAD THRU THE LIGHTS AT ALBION PK INTO...

> TERRY ST WHICH BECOMES SWAMP ROAD

> PROCEED UP TO 'T' INTERSECTION AND TURN RIGHT INTO JAMBEROO...

> PROCEED UP JAMBEROO MTN RD THRU JAMBEROO PASS TO ROBERTSON.

We of the Nowra group will let you know (as we meet at Albion Pk) if the Mac Pass has been re-opened; but within 50 hours of now - I don't think so!

Profile:-

Jamberoo Mountain Rd is a testy piece of tarmac too.

Cons:-

Narrower than Mac Pass or Cambewarra Mtn Rd

You'll be going past a few driveways at the lower end whereas Mac Pass is fully enclosed in Nat Pk

No 'Overtaking Lanes'

Different surface from the hotmix tar on Mac Pass

Neutral:-

Just remember that if Mac Pass is not operating, that's just one less piece of tarmac that the police don't have to patrol - so stick to speed limits (so to speak).

Pros:-

Lots of twists on the Pass

Lots of sweepers between Albion Pk > Swamp Rd > Jamberoo

Nice straight section at the top of the Pass > Robertson (and the Pie shop is directly opposite to where this route comes out).

okokok ummmm meetup for sydney people and south people can now be elsewhere. i'm thinking possibly.....

actually no. still the same place, just have to turn around or something. i've found another place with a decent size carpark but don't want everyone getting lost :)

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...mp;t=h&z=19

at the end of hughes drive, if it doesnt show up properly.

jamberoo mountain can be fun, but everyone PLEASE be careful; it's very narrow. if another car is coming down, it's a "oooh shit" moment.

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
