I love it! Currently testing and comparing two radar detectors so makes it easy to find a test site!

Though only having an iPod touch I can't use a lot of the features

Radar detector on an iPhone? o.O

Cool... just downloaded the Android version for my HTC Hero (couldnt bring myself to get an Iphone).

Works alright, but living in North Melbourne I have 5 warnings of fixed speed cameras whilst sitting in my lounge room. Definitely would be better out of the CBD!

You could always turn off the fixed speed camera alerts if you're confident you know all of them on your daily routes anyway. I never run my Trapster while driving, I just leave it to push the latest "traps" to me. If I pass one or see one then I'll do my bit and report it though :)

No, but iPhone is so much fun anyway.

Was doubting at first but once I bought it, best phone ever!

Make sure you get lots of data useage :P

Hmm...

Also a lot of ppl have iPhones now and I don't like Apple products and I am still using my Sony Ericsson K610i.

I have a G4, which I bought back in 2002 due to propaganda at TAFE and ppl saying they are better for graphic design work.

Never again!

The iPhone can do what a regular phone can do with load of wank due to a lot of useless App, don't you think...

Definitely not.

This app is compatible with other phones too so you should shop around for one you like :P

Yeah sure.

So is the App available for Nokia / Sony Ericsson..?

I would use those brands, I have used Samsung before, was ok, then a new model Samsung was not so good.

Was not as user friendly as the Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

Well...I'm a graphic designer and I use Apple products everyday lol, I think they are awesome  Own a Macbook myself too.

As for iPhone... Yes, its a phone that does what other phone can do, but for me, I use it to go on the net, go on forums etc.

It's a lot easier to browse the internet with touchscreen and a bigger screen.

And yes it does have a lot of wanky apps, but there are also tones of other good ones. It just does it for me, as I'm into more of the fun side of things.

I've had nokias since I was like 10? lol. And I wouldn't look back at changing back to a nokia, unless they make some more awesome lol, coz N97 = fail :)

True!

I was using a friends iPhone last night, just having a browse of the features.

Was good if you get the ones that are useful, just like any other phone really.

I'll look into it.

Cool!

What's caravan feature? I haven't even looked around much in the menus of Trapster.

Is it basically the same as Google Latitude?

Caravan feature is pretty much like having friends on Trapster, it shows you where your friends are, if they are near you.

Trust me, once you get used to the handiness of having internet in your pocket...

You are gonna love it, as well as ALL those additional apps and games :(

Buddy up people... ...Trapster UID is "htial"...

Added.

I think in this thread, everyone should post up their user name :D

Mine is charles89 lol

Do you guys put Discoverable to ON?

Does this mean people can see where I live?

Might leave caravaning off..

i think people can only see you when you have your trapster on. So i'm pretty sure you don't have it on at home lol.

And I think your little icon moves around as you drive.

    • Yeah, hard to find and a pain in the ass to change with the transverse engine. I’ve worked on a GTiR before and it’s not a job I’d ever want to do again. theres a company in South Africa that makes RS3 gearbox adaptors for the AWD SR20 including gearbox mounts, so I could modernise it and go a dual clutch with paddles. For now tho, it ticks all the boxes. Super cheap, can throw the kids and their junk in the back, and SR20 that I can turbo cheaply, a CVT that’s not a dog’s breakfast like the V35, and has 80% interchangeable parts with stuff I can source from the wreckers cheaply…. But it’s still unique. I love the wagon back of the Autech version. It’s cheap enough that I can buy another stock manual FWD Primera with SR20VE, swap the gearbox to the N15 pulsar short gear ratio box, swap out the brakes to the R32 ones I pulled off my 32, register it on club plates and take it racing. $1300 shipping from NZ. Heaps of parts and aftermarket builders for transverse SR20’s in NZ.
    • Hard to say, just pop the rocker covers off and have a look if you think it's cammed. You probably need to replace the valve cover gasket/half moons anyways.
    • From my youth: GTi-R clutch change is a massive pain. The gearboxes are fragile? But the car is super cool and I want one 😢
    • Remember this is 1988 tech.
    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
